I recently began my first invasion of another Homeworld. I had two nice fleets built up and sitting over a neutral, unclaimed world, and sent the first Fleet to 'attack' the world first and the 2nd to Capture. Since I'm a newbie, I'm not sure about my strategy here, but it seemed to me that my first wave of attacking ships would handle any defending fleet and/or defending planetary guns, etc. Anyhow, my problem was that one ship in my Capture Fleet wasn't outfitted properly with an assault pod. A message came up, informing me I had to 're-outfit' that ship in order to invade. I couldn't 'cancel' that message without selecting a new design. So, I selected a new design and acknowledged the message. The ship commander, therefore, headed back to the nearest colony for refitting. I cancelled his orders and mission (as well as everyone elses), re-defined this lone ship as Fleet 3, and reset all missions for everyone. I was ready to invade...or so I thought. My renegade ship commander refused to cancel his mission to refit his ship....no matter how many times or ways I tried to get him to do so. I also tried re-assigning different missions. The rest of the Capture Fleet also decided to go renegade by refusing to move anywhere! They stayed there the whole time, while the individual ship went back to refit itself. Once the ship was refit, I was finally allowed to give all the ships new missions, etc. Well, I'm sorry if this is too lengthy, but the problem was a bit complicated. I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I did something wrong. However, just for the record, I had the entire Fleet scrapped and the commanders were sent to a penal colony on Hyperion I...... which was later fried by a planet killer. Thanks for any help.
