Is it possible to be the only humans in the universe?

I know I can limit the other starting empires to non-human races.
I know I can prevent independents from becoming empires.
But it seems that the independent races are chosen from the pool of available races, thus it is possible for an indie to show up as humans.

So: how can I mod the races or set-up so that no independents are human?

I bow to the greatness of the collective wisdom of you experienced modders .

I think if you set Humans to "Can be Normal Empire = No", then that may stop them appearing as independent races (you can still play them as long as they are "playable = yes"). Failing that you can set Humans to "expanding = No", which basically makes the game treat them like the Mechanoids, who don't appear as independent races. I think if you then chose to play as Humans you can still colonise and stuff (unlike an AI race playing non-expanding). I haven't tested either of those but fairly sure if neither of those work it can't be done.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try these and report back!

But -- in what file are these settings?

The file will be the human.txt file in the "races" folder. I suggest you set the following:

Expanding ;N
CanBePirate ;N
CanBeNormalEmpire ;N
Playable ;Y

I'll be interested to see your result.
