Good job on the golfing, Jeff. I assume you saw the revised USDA forecast this morning? No USD $4.00 CZ December 2013 corn for you!

So that'll cost you $500 *and* a case of beer?

Bitter sweet day for me.

It's my B-Day. And I just got turned down for a great job that I was told by the interviewer I was perfect for. It went to HR, and I "Did not pass the back ground check". I have Top Secret clearance...

Happy Birthday, anyway! Have a drink, have another, get blitzed and cause a ruckus, get arrested, and then have a legit reason to not pass the background check!

No. And I am 99.99% certain the reason was bogus in any event. I work in government equipment all the time, I have clearances others don't, I checked my TRW...

Getting over 50& looking for work is an oxymoron anymore, methinks.

Is "a pint of the brown stuff" a satisfactory fee for services rendered?

I wonder if the 'background check' is a bogus catch-all HR-speak explanation used for discrimination for things that you're not supposed to discriminate against.

Good job on the golfing, Jeff. I assume you saw the revised USDA forecast this morning? No USD $4.00 CZ December 2013 corn for you!

So that'll cost you $500 *and* a case of beer?

I understand that you enjoy playing blackjack? I appreciate casinos that permit 'surrender' rules when the house is showing an excellent hand and you have crap. I assume that you've used that before? Anyways, it's a surrender of half of your starting bet before any new betting / new cards are thrown-based only upon the initial deal.

So, I'll offer you surrender here, because I'm such a nice guy. If you just want to save yourself half the bet by sacrificing the long timeline to December expiration and admitting that I'm right, I'll offer that to you. So, send me a twelve pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and we'll call it even?

You don't use them? There's a real advantage to be gained by playing blackjack with surrender rules. I'll see if I can find the citations, but it's something like a 2-3% improvement in long-term payback.

The house is at a big disadvantage when I am at the table. You remember in the Hangover when Alan is at the casino? That's me.
