12/15/41 The following places have been captured: Naga, Victoria Point, Nauru Sorong and Balabac.

One of my subs caught one of his AOs coming out of SF (or LA, not sure) and apparently sank it. It was apparently unescorted. I am apparently pleased. The Langley took a severe beating from Kates at Davao and surely won't escape. His carriers sortied and caught two of my AMCs near Canton Island and sank one of them. I was unaware those AMCs were even out there, but I should have known. There's been some action in the Celebes Sea involving squadrons of mine led by CLs attacking convoys attempting to escape from the area. Nothing to write home about.

I'll try and read it, right after I read Alfred's thread on ship repair. This is supposed to be fun, not work.

12/17/41 Mauban, Guam and Sorong have been captured or occupied. My forces have landed on Jolo. Some unpleasantness in the Celebes and Sulu Seas, mostly between my CLs and DDs and his merchant vessels of various types with some contributions by Kates. He lost two DDs I believe. His forces in the PI are retreating north to Manila now, after my landings at Mauban. He sent some sort of LCU to occupy the forest to the east of Manila, but having arrived have been ordered to turn around and go back. I believe the Langley is at Davao and too damaged to leave there (ever). Tuguegarao and Alor Star fell without a fight and San Fernando will shortly.

My Vehicle production situation appears to be improving rapidly, I am now at 117 pts.

I'll try to liven this AAR up with graphics soon, even if they have nothing to do with the game.

SuluSea, I hope you didn't think I was referring to you.

Raiden says that may be the first time he's seen Saratoga attacked by a sub and survive unscathed. I'm not sure the whole universe is against me, but perhaps the entire galaxy is.

Hong Kong is still holding out. He sent some sort of LCU around my skirmishers and entered Canton. Don't know what he's up to but I guess I'll find out.

Once the Chinese get some AV into Canton, it's very tough to kick them out. The heavy urban terrain bonus is fantastic, so you're now stuck spending time either cutting the unit off and whittling away at it, or bringing in a lot of extra Japanese AV that you really want to be using elsewhere. Smart play on his part.

My first reaction is to just plug the hole he went through then let him starve. I'll have to examine whether Canton produces anything I actually need that I can't get elsewhere.

I forgot to note: That unit east of Manila is still headed there, but there appears to be 2 more now staying put with more on the way. I presume he decided that was the wrong unit for the job considering the circumstances.

I've completed a string of search/ASW bases down to New Guinea.
I'm giving more info than Raiden needs to know, but those yellow fields will get brighter soon.

12/25/41 Merry Christmas. One of my subs made an intercept not far from Christmas Island. When the graphic flitted by (I wasn't looking close enough) I thought I saw Lexington. Then I got the report saying it was the Ludington. Thinking it might be FoW and the two disagreed, I ran the combat replay again to see for sure. Turns out it wasn't Fog of War, but rather Fog of gorn (Fog).

He he, one time I thought a sub had sunk one of my opponent's IJN carriers, but it turned out to be a merchant with the same name, like 'Akagi Maru' or some such!
