Another view of the north front lines. The lines near the gap have been broken and John's units
are pouring through so now all my stuff near Pskov are in trouble. I'm going to have to see if I
can't pull those guys to the east and set up another new front line where the double blue lines are.
Those guys defending Leningrad are just going to fend for themselves. They should be able to
hold out for another four turns I'm guessing.

Hm... why so? Why don't you fall back to the river Luga and the swamps south of Lake Ilmen?

Hey, that's a better idea. I like that a lot. I'll do that. Thanks for your input my friend.

But beware the combined Finnish/German army heading south/southwest from Karelia. Do you have anyone that you can send up there? If this is not possible, your initial plan might be better.

It's always you i'm giving advice.. Fogger will hate me one day..

Oh. Okay. Keep those good ideas flowing. And yeah, maybe you could throw some advice toward John and see if any of it sticks.

Here's all the stuff I'm supposed to get next turn. A whole lot of it is reconstituted so I expect those to be cherry red. I'm torn between
moving them when they are red and cost less to move, or letting them rest first before I move them. I think moving them first when they
are still red might delay the refit process somehow but I have no proof of that.

My advice would be to rest them for a while. If they are red when they arrive they will be of no use at the front anyway. No point in losing them with an immediate deployment to the front. But it really depends on how desperate you are at a particular point at the front.

Thanks Petey dude. I think you're right. I saw an example where a Fort was going to cost 214 to embark on the train but it was still
cherry red. And there was another Fort unit I wanted to move and it only cost 224 to embark and it was emerald green. So it doesn't
cost all that much when they are ripe compared to unripe so it makes sense to rest them. I haven't compared the cost of a Division
or a Brigade or a Regiment. Probably similar to the Fort.

I just happened to stumble upon a covert group of Axis units already across the river. And I've already moved all my rail cap. and there's
no nearby blockers to employ. D'oh. It looks like John has done it again. This playing w/ no borders on is taking some getting used to.
I'm not used to not being able to see where everybody is etc.

I thought I'd post the END_TURN_DO_NOT_SEND file to a file server somewhere so you guys could download the file and take a
look around the map at your leisure. Here's the link for the 848KB file:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/s80mg78wnpa4bmg/END_OF_TURN_DO_NOT_SEND_T23.zip

And in case you need a password it's "test" without the quotes.

I've even included the equipment file this time.

High there Petey dude. Um.......I'm retired and can respond to Johns moves usually within an hour or so. John on the other hand is
married and has to work full time and, well, sometimes it takes a day or two for his moves to show up at my house. I'm lucky he's
playing me at all. On the other hand I may have forgotten to send my moves to him, again, and he's waiting on my moves. D'oh.

Okay......I got some moves from John just now and This is the north part of the front lines. I'm getting pushed backward in several
places and the active engagement is turned on so it's a chore trying to get away from John's units so I can reposition. I've committed
just about everybody I can afford to the Leningrad area and it's looking like Leningrad is going to fall sooner rather than later.

Here's the lower part of the front lines. John is making progress in several areas. I'm not sure I can stop him in the south. Savage
fighting going on near Kiev.

There are several areas that are new hot spots and this is one of them.........near the Kiev area John is making progress crossing the
river in a spot where my blocking was thin and I don't have the people nearby to stop him this time.

Agreed; the Kiev area is looking bad for the Soviets. Still some options availible at L-grad but Kiev is looking bad. Use of the river twists may slow him down for a bit but the Axis will clear the entire area in a few turns.

Here's the Leningrad area now. My guys are getting pushed backward and John is going to make a really good hole any turn now and
come pouring through it.

I'm thinking John may have won the game by getting across the river w/o my knowing about it here. His units are moving into this area
from up north so I'm thinking he's got a good hole going on and is moving people through it. I may have an ace up my sleeve however,
because the terrain is twisty in that area. Maybe I can get enough people into the path of John's units to slow him down somewhat.

Ah yes. Did not see this. The Finns get to do anything they want. That is not good for a Soviet player. Not to mention high on the highly unlikely category. So it is a huge advantage for the Axis player. Maybe more than enough to tip the scales into Axis decisive victory. Something else that is very not historical is how the Axis recce units run 100km ahead of their HQ. These guys are the eyes and ears of the German mobile divisions. Would not be allowed to do this except in exceptional circumstances. And recce battalions holding 30km+ to close a pocket. LMAO.

What advantages have the Soviets been given in this scenario? All the cabbage soup and black bread they can eat?

I think you're correct. This will probably tip the scales alright. And John is taking advantage of every advantage he has. Good for
him. Makes for a better game.

I notice that I tend to do that too and I agree w/ you that they should stay w/in range of the heavier units for protection or else they
could get killed.

I'm guessing he's using whatever happens to be handy at the moment. Also, this is another symptom of being outnumbered.

The Soviets have the following advantages: none that I can think of. I guess I get to play John Fogger and that's about it.

I scraped together enough people to make a first draft of a blocking position but it's not going to hold anything. And I railed in some
people to be able to help out next turn. But John is going to push those guys aside and roll on. I'm only about 1/2 way through moving
my people so maybe I can find some more dudes to rail into this area. It's not looking as bad as I thought it was going to look and I'm
feeling a little better about the situation.

That is not the only defense. All river hexes with a flooded marsh are impossible to cross for 3/4 qtrs of the year. When winter comes they will freeze where upon the Larry will be able to attack where ever he wishes. If you study the map you will see that there are only a few areas where I can cross.

The theater air superiority has swung back towards the Axis. However the loss of 23,954 HRS seems a bit high. Any comments on this key metric?

John has been doing airfield attacks and a lot of my fighters are in reorg and the losses in aircraft is high right now.

I'm thinking John knows that time is against him and he's pushing to make good while he can. 23K+ losses in HRS's seems high to me
and I'm thinking the edge of the sword is getting dull. Maybe I can start pushing back come October and the winter turns. The strategic
advantage is still w/ John and the Axis since he's doing the deciding where to go and what to do w/ his attackers. I'm having to try to
react to his moves and he's catching me off guard all over the map. Great game so far.
