Grollub - For the game, you can start here: http://www.nfl.com/rulebook

For Fantasy Football, you need to look at each individual league's rules for that league. The rules for each vary, some quite wildly, but most are either based on what a player does in points or his performance in other statistics gathered on that players performance. You pick players from the whole real NFL and they are then on your team. Each week you "play" against another team and tally the performance/points score for each player together and compare. Highest score wins.

Very simplified description.

Thanks Mike

I almost always watch the Sunday evening games so I dare to say I have at least *some* insight into the game. It was that "Fantasy Football" thingy I was curious about. Who is administrating it? Some web site? NFL themselves? Some private person/league?

Ah, wasn't sure. NFL, ESPN, Yahoo come to mind on the online FF hosting. It did start, long ago, with paper and pencil and stat sheeets from games. Now, you get live updates as the games happen. The leagues I am in are hosted by Yahoo. See here: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/

If you have a Yahoo account you can log right in. It is a little late to join a league, but next year watch the Matrix announcements for their leagues they have every year. Look for help from the other players and like everything here, never take yourself, or your team seriously!

I remember running a small 10 person league 20 some odd years ago having to wait on the USA Today to come out so I could hunt for the stats using paper and pencil... haven't played for quite a while and might find it challenging to name more than a a dozen or two players that currently play.

An incomplete list. They omitted my favorite, a "Havana". As in "Heaving a Havana."

Speaking of Havanas, there was this thread on on the main forum that mentioned Des. Got a git teary eyed, so put on the cap he sent me and went out to find some cigars. Bought some Perdomo, Habanos, with Connecticut wrappers, Honduras, a serious good smoke.

Put my cap on and smoked the whole thing, thinking of Des. Hours of enjoyment. So long as he lives in the hearts and minds of his friends, he is not gone.

Remember Des. Ciao. John

Welp, the land battle for New Caledonia is now over, and unfortunately the Penguin won. Remnants of two Australian and three US divisions are going into captivity and the SLOC from the US to Oz is once again cut. Yaaaaay...

I'm scared to look at how many points that cost me...

Bugger! What's the game date? Have you been able to kill off a useful number of penguin ships during the extended battle to make your next offensive easier?

It's October '42. A few turns back, I had a three-day naval battle down there that exchanged 4 US CV's and 2 BB's for 3 IJN CV's and 2 BB's, plus sundries.

If he doesn't get auto-victory, I'm delaying any offensive in CENTPAC and SOPAC until late summer of '43.

Ah, I forgot about that recent battle. Yeah, even though you trimmed his ship numbers down a good bit it took most of your striking power to do it.

Looking for other possible silver linings.... how well have you been able to check his expansion in other theaters while drawing all his efforts into New Caledonia?

Then you're some kind of weird nerd/jock hybrid.

I think most AFROTC cadets fit into this category. We played sports all the time and then stayed up until 4 in the morning playing Air Superiority/Air Strike.

What if you play both?

What if you played not only D&D, but SL, later ASL, ACW in 15mm, and GGs PacWar along with MOOII, this and play Fantasy Football.
