John go in 2 good port strikes. That's rough. The only thing worse than those old BBs sinking, is having them clog up the shipyards.

Larry: I would expect Johns air loses to go up with a second strike. PH's AF doesn't look like its closed. If it's not close you can put up some CAP. That will increase his loses. I don't know about the paratroopers.

Note to Jim Moore: Um......Santa Barbara is one of the cities outputting Resources and it's got 30 factories to repair and there's no
engineers there to fix it and the supply is way way too low, so I request some engineers to build up the RC and a load of supplies to
enable the fix. Thanks.

Hey Jim: same story for Santa Ana. It's got 20 factories to repair. I only need them for a month or less. Okay?

I have temporarily turned off the repair of the Light Industry in those bases that also have a Resource Center that needs repair so that
the repair efforts will be devoted to the repair of the Resource Centers. As soon as they are repaired I'm going to turn on the repair of
the Light Industry. I expect the light industry to be off for most of the factories just a month or so. Longer on the bigger loads.

I just happened to notice that John3rd has a TF headed NW from Talaud-eilanden and it looks like he's going to intercept a lot of those
ships fleeing Manila and the south PI. This promises to be bloody. D'oh.

I found two fighter units and a bomber unit that I could move from Balikpapan to Tarakan and thereby be in a better position to harry
that Jap TF coming from the NE. I don't expect that I'll get any hits on anything but I'll feel better for trying.

Here's the current situation w/ the KB. It seems to be sitting to the north of Pearl not going anywhere. That presages a second day of
attacks on Pearl. I'm guessing.

I don't think you need Engineers to repair LI or resources( or any other factory). You should just need to increase the supply demand by about 4,000 at each city to gather about 12,000 supply. Then you can repair 2 factories each turn.

Hey there EHansen dude: I thought I read somewhere that engineers were needed to repair factories. I could be wrong,. I've been wrong before. If I really don't need engineers then that's really good news and thank you very much.

EHansen is correct: Engineers are definitely not needed to repair factories. They only help with port and airfield repair and construction, plus forts. Also, I think in a few days your factories should be working in most places once resources get properly distributed.

Also, I use those YOs as single-ship TFs to fuel exposed front-line bases from supply dumps. Of course, your HRs might preclude such usage.

Simonsez: Love your avatar. "Hello Peter. What's happening? Um, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in tomorrow. So if you could be here around nine, that would be great. Mmmkay?"

Cheers,
CC

Capt.
EVERY available fighter at Pearl is on 80%CAP/20% REST... AAF forces are at 15K (P-40) 10K (P-26) 20K (F4F-3)
I pooled all the fighters to Manila and did the same minus the Navy F's

Larry,
I didn't read this until after the turn was sent, Noted for next turn, checking all US bases for supply. I saw SF & LA were red exclamation points...

I was hurrying since the internet problems occurred and I didnt want to be down for a third night without getting this done and off to John.

I am appreciative of all the hits (readers) and even more so of the comments, "Aww Youse guys!!!" Keep hitting us with the ideas!

1) Accomplished list for turn 2
a) Undamaged SS at major US bases have been sortied and ordered to interdict shipping along Japans southern coast, Pearl is now the Central Base for all but the S boats. (S-boats will use Johnston Is)
b) Damaged SS at Manila got shipyard space (2 S boats will have to wait) avg 5-10 days in dock.
c) Pearl Harbor dock is in reverse order of damage - lightly damaged got shipyard time (2 CA's mainly) medium damage (2 BB, 2 CL's, 3 DD's) also got docked, mostly all other warships got pierside until the yards free up. 2 BB's are terminal (85% Flt or worse) but no scuttle option yet.
d) Manila ships are getting the Dutch Harbor escape route, it worked once before but I figure the Betty/Nell's will get most of them in the Phillipine Sea.
e) Sent PBY4's from Phillipines to Columbo, I will transfer them over to Larry, (I don't remember who's suggestion it was, but it's a d*mn good one!)

Plans for turn 3 for US Armed Forces...
1) Check all US bases for supply and set proper amounts
2) See what John is doing with the CV's north of PH.
3) Start getting the CONUS troops organized. Engineers have the early priority.

More to add as I think of it...

Way to go west of Pearl! Sometimes you can really put some hurt on those carriers if they hang around for a second attack.

Thanks witpqs,

At the risk of seeming knowledgeable - I see two things from the KB2 going westward... He's out to trap Enterprise and/or Lexington CV groups out by Wake, and he's going to support Wake invasion and or Guam before refitting. The help from the encounter is maybe he will take the CV's home first now to patch-n-paint!

adding SigInt for 12/8/41 to get opinions of intentions so far...

Hey you guys: I just got through watching the combat animations and was mildly annoyed w/ the screen jumping up and down on the
right side. I can still make out the rough draft of what's happening on the right side but I'd really prefer that it stand still and lemme
see the movie like it's supposed to be seen. I'm hoping there's a command-line switch I can use or something. I'm running Windows 7
for an operating system and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that's there's no cure. It's MicroSoft after all.

Here's a view Tracker gives of the date of arrival of the carriers that the Allies are going to get. I've sorted the DOA column in
increasing order to give a better idea of how many carriers are coming and when.

According to Tracker the Allies are building about 530 planes per month of various kinds. In the red rectangle I have sorted into
ascending order how many planes are being built ( inside the parenthacees ) per month. The P-40 is being pumped out the most
and the transports aren't getting many new ones.

Larry,

I can't help you there, sorry. I've only heard two theories - Its your video card and how the game uses it. and the second is its from the bomb's and TT's hits to accentuate the effects... I have no problem being wrong in either case...

I just get colored blocks aproximating the size of the animation and it suddenly appears after the battle starts... then the box stays for 10-15 sec after the battle finishes and makes a discolored box on the right hand side. It clears up by the end though! <grin>

I have had that. Try adding one or both of these switches to the shortcut command line that you use to start AE:

-fixedArt

-noFire

Yeah thanks dude. -fixedArt and -noFire one or both of them fixed the problem I was having. I don't get to see the planes firing their guns and the naval bombardment doesn't light up the coastline anymore but at least the picture is rock steady now.

Here's a list of the industry that is failing still. Most are failing because of a lack of resources still.

Here's the situation around Pearl. It looks like the KB has split up and both parts are headed NW so as to flee the scene of the crime.
Jim has an excellent opportunity to jump on at least the southernmost part of the KB and scratch the paint some more. I'm guessing
John is going to try to get the separate parts back together somehow, to get the undamaged carriers to protect the scratched ones.
I keep saying the scratched ones.......I mean those carriers that got a shell hit in the most recent naval action. At least two of them
were hit and they have probably already repaired the damage and are applying another coat of paint even as we speak.
