I find myself cheering on the Japanese.

As I am an avid AFB, I don't think you find this comforting

6/10/42 The KB returned east and I took a chance that it wouldn't be intercepted by CVs or BBs and ordered everything to attack the port at Soerbaja. Pretty good little haul.

Kavieng. First mistake, I hadn't built up the port even one level. Second, no port engineers yet. Third, the ships were in cargo mode instead of amphibious so they'd been there quite a while.

I should update you on Bataan. He still holds it, but if my reports are correct he's lost about 20,000 men to starvation, disease or dispersal. The port of Manila is unusable by me because of the minefield at Bataan, which when I tried to clear it (some time ago) his CD guns put a stop to that. Perhaps they are no longer functional but I'll wait awhile to find out.

6/16/42 A couple of battles. At Uttaridit his commander appears to have a very poor sense of direction. They keep retreating into my fortifications. I'm really embarrassed for them.

6/19/42 These BBs were heading to Victoria Point to bombard it. I don't want to know what happened to the clown flying the Val who dropped his bomb from 10,000 feet.

The situation for the Americans in Fiji is starting to look very grim. We will shortly be driving them back into the sea!

6/27/42 Koumac again. I think he's going to need a bigger boat (I think he's getting one now).

7/1/42 Here's an example of the kind of stuff going on around Rabaul on a daily basis. The Tojos just started spelling the Zeros. The shipments are to Rabaul and Madang.

This is not far from Amoy. Raiden is pushing whereever he thinks he can get away with it in China and Thailand. He's trying to divert troops away from the DEI. Problem is it's working. Nuts.

7/3/42 Raiden and I are having a very merry 3rd of July, hope you are too. Events on Fiji - Raiden's being a very nadi nadi boy. Also an ill advised attack from me at a base I still control in northern Thailand.

I'm starting to think I didn't sink a single BB at Pearl, and didn't damage them all that badly either.

7/8/42 Raiden's been bombing Tarawa almost daily for the last three weeks, softening it up. He didn't realize the only forces I had defending Tarawa were tortoises. He finally landed there and, as you can see below, the tortoises put up one hell of a fight on the beaches, dumping equipment into the sea and nearly drowning 447 troops!
