I just spent a very happy day and a half with my Dad. He's 83, and it's the 1st time I've seen him in nearly four years. Although he's very healthy , I can't help but wonder if I won't see him again. I'll always take his phone call , no matter how inconvenient. I made that mistake with my mom. She left a message , and I said "I'll call her tomorrow". She passed that night.

There is no blame, Steve, except that which you wish to accept to yourself. My Dad died 12 years ago after taking care of mom for many years. His great and inclusive heart, just gave out. A great and wonderful man left us. Them of us who are left must carry on. I remember going to the funeral and seeing his body, and promising to his "shade", that I would do what he wanted.

Death is life. Life is death. What we are, is what we were, and ever shall be. The thought you hold in your mind about "I'll call tomorrow" will be there, for God to see. Your tears for your mother's passing, are keys into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sorry, I'm just a philosophical Jesuit and want to see and greet my friends at the footstool of God.

Actually John I don't feel blame, only regret. For lost opportunities. Life is precious, fleeting and too often too taken for granted. Seize opportunities, and treasure them. And those you love.

Tithe... Yesterday was entirely foggy from morning to night. 86 cars crashed on a 10-mile stretch of highway just south of here over a two-hour period.

Lost mom in 2007 age 66. Dad in 2009 age 72. I have the memories. Close to my aunts, uncles, cousins, daughter and many many friends. And this is good. Life goes on.

Now, about that letter you were supposed to write to Santa Claus about that anti-boyfriend weapon...

Leo "Apollo11"

Please accept this digital Lilly to put on his grave. We are getting to that age where we see those closest to us passing onward; uncles, aunts, parents, passing beyond and reminding us of our own mortality. Thus, Life.

I will light a candle for your uncle. What was his name? God certainly knows, but I would like to be righteous in the asking for Grace.

[ed] And I see Dixie has a daughter. And life goes on.

John

A belated Merry Christmas and happy new year to all.

Most of us are of an age where loved ones have passed on. This was my first without my grandmother...my last grandparent. She lived to a ripe old 99 so no regrets just as John said: pointers to mortality. The past and the future are in Gods hands. I just try to do what's right one day at a time.
