ORIGINAL: Horseman78 If you haven't already completed Norway here's a quick tip some one posted on my AAR several years ago quote:
Here's a trick for getting just a little more Prestige that you can do next time. On Norway, don't take Trondheim and leave the Victory Hex unoccupied (you can leave a unit next to it so no new enemy units appear). Take Nasmos in the north and then wait it out to the final turn (you can now move the unit away from Trondheim if you want some enemy units to shoot at and get some experience while you wait). Now, the reason you want to get a Marginal Victory is there is no penalty (you still end up at the Low Countries), but you get over 500 more Prestige by waiting to the last turn (instead of getting the Decisive Victory). It is a quirk that I've noted to the developers and hopefully will be addressed (you really should get more Prestige for a DV over a MV). So, when I started Low Countries, my Prestige was at 2681 and was just enough to do all my purchases and upgrades shown above. If you get the DV, then you'll start LC with 500 less Prestige and have to make some tough choices. I don't know for certain if you get more prestige for a MV now as its been a few years and patches but it'd be easy enough to check Interesting -- that's a bit too gamey for my tastes. And anyway my ego won't let me play for anything less than a decisive victory. Though the enemy has a lot to say about the level of my victory too. For that matter, whether or not I win. Well, the quality of my play is a significant factor too. By the way, I'm still in the deployment phase, which I should post a little later. Oh, I think might understand what's going on with respect to the tip. I played this scenario (not for this AAR) a few days ago and had captured the 6 objectives required for a marginal victory. I was also closing on Namsos but when I hit turn 17 the game ended because I currently had a marginal victory and now it was impossible to achieve a decisive one. I think the tip is that if you can't capture Namsos by turn 16 then you can only continue the game if you don't control 1 or more of the other 6 objectives. If the game ends early with a marginal victory then you don't get the prestige points for Namsos, Steinkjer and the adjacent airbase. So maybe the tip isn't as gamey as I originally though since the game can end prematurely in my opinion. So, if it looks like a decisive victory becomes out of reach then I may try to extend the game in order to captured the remaining Norwegian cities and gain the extra prestige points.
