We're locked in deep freeze here for the next 48 hours. Very cold weather. Good thing I stocked up on bourbon.

... and we're having the warmest winter in ~100 years so far.

Haven't seen a snowflake here in Stockholm yet.

ETA; Good thinking on the Bourbon.

Watching Battle of Britain. It's funny how you can clearly see the painted-over Spanish Air Force roundels on the "German" planes...

I haven't watched that film in ages. I hope you kept an eye out for my favourite old lady There are also two of our Spitfires in that film.

Another day, another visit from a midwife and another hour drive to the hospital for the baby. She's making progress though, now she's 1 less yellow than she was on Friday. Poor thing is getting fed up of doctors stabbing her in the foot and taking her blood. Nine days old and she's had three trips to hospital I'm sure a boy would have been less trouble...

-24F here this morning. With a nice "brisk" wind chill thrown in too. Makes for -40 to -50F with the wind chill. Long johns weather indeed!

If you listen closely this morning, you can hear muffled grenade blasts in Kansas.

Too cold here to go outside and listen for the grenade blasts...

Yeah, I know, 8 is not the same as -24 or -25, but it is still damn cold for the South!

Welp, the Ceylon invasion is on hold. I guess those Betties he's moved in won't be elsewhere causing trouble, right? Right?

T, is he reacting to your buildup, or did he just get lucky with his timing?

Edit, also it seems to be a great place where you can set LRCAP over some small convoys and wear away at his Betty reserves....

He's definitely been reacting to me. I've been flying air strikes against the whole island (but primarily Colombo and Koggala) for a few weeks, so he sees what's coming. The invasion is definitely not off, but I'm going to need to squash those Betties first.

Naw, your just getting started. My son was 2 months a preemie. They kept him in NICU for 2 weeks. He went through Jaundice too. I would go to work, then back to the hospital. Slept on the floor. They taped a needle to his head because of all the pokes to his feet. It took 2 cops to hold me back when they took him in the back to remove that needle. Then 2 straight years of colic. Thank Gawd for grandparents

We’ve been joined at the hip since he came home. Momma took a year off from work to be with him, but with the crying from colic she would meet me at the door when I came home from work, baby in outstretched arms. We would walk around the local mall (indoors) for hours since the stroller & activity kept him calm. Now he’s 16, an Eagle scout, pulls a 3.84 GPA at school, already looking at college (and scholarships), he can walk me into the ground on hikes, and he can almost outshoot the old man Heck, we even finish each other’s sentences. He is undoubtedly the best thing that ever happened to me, and my best friend. You get back what you put in, and your journey is just getting started

Wait until she discovers boys!!

Well said, Glen! My son is actually my step-son, but I've been his only dad for more than half of his 15 years now. We butt heads like crazy, but we also laugh non-stop and manage to spend a lot of time together. He's also been one to make us proud with fantastic grades and a fierce determination. His goal has been to go to West Point for the last 3 years and it hasn't changed in all that time. He's surely the second best thing that ever happened to me, aside from his Mom.

Dixie,

I know it doesn't seem like it now, but based upon what you're writing, she is going to be fine. In fact the worst thing you are likely to deal with, and what the docs won't mention, is that you will have all this extra time in 2 hour feeding cycles. My little one was 8 weeks early ... that meant instead of 4 - 8 weeks of 2 hour feeding cycles we had over 12 weeks ... that was a really long time for my wife not to get any decent sleep. But that was the worst. By the time he was 2, he had caught up with all of his peers physically (50/50 percentiles in height/weight). Now he is 4 1/2 and you would never know he was 8 weeks premie if I didn't tell you. We just took a 7 mile bike ride together this last Saturday ... 7 miles on a 2 wheel bike with only 18" wheels ... and he's just 4 1/2 ... already starting to ride my butt off.

Dixe, parenting is an experience full of various levels of frustration. But, the rewards are sooooo much worth it! It is so cool watching this little lump of flesh turn into a human being. Thinking, figuring stuff out, making decisions, both good and bad. Hopefully more good than bad!
