7/9/42 Some rather uncouth people were moving into Nadi, so we moved out. That place was a dump anyway.

Saw this Christmas ornament in a Hallmark store yesterday. Maybe next year you can put one on the tree...

Unfortunately on Gorn we have no trees. My species ate all of them a long time ago. Now we stick a large toilet brush (they are quite large on Gorn) in the ground and hang our ornaments on that.

When I'm not getting my ass handed to me in the Pacific, I like to do crosswords. Unfortunately, I can't get past this very difficult one. Can anyone help me?

7/10/42 The men insisted on leaving Koumac because of all the mosquitoes there. We're on our way to Noumea now. As we were leaving, we could hear a chorus of slapping sounds like a piazza full of startled pigeons taking off.

7/11/42 I put on a mask and robbed this one. This is good news since I'd had to execute a couple of commanders who failed earlier.

I should update you on Bataan. He still holds it, but if my reports are correct he's lost about 20,000 men to starvation, disease or dispersal. The port of Manila is unusable by me because of the minefield at Bataan, which when I tried to clear it (some time ago) his CD guns put a stop to that. Perhaps they are no longer functional but I'll wait awhile to find out.

I just noticed this, and maybe you've addressed it....true minesweepers sweep their own hex plus all hexes surrounding their own out to 1 hex...so you don't
actually have to hit the port where the mines are at. You can stand off a hex, and sweep.

She'll soon be back, updated too. Remember, my opponent is free to read these posts. I'll test Bataan again, but I'm more interested to see if his artillery has anything left than to sweep any mines.

7/15/42 Here's a battle in Thailand. Raiden is also pushing down the coast. I'm getting rather tired of the gall of that man.

Here's a painting I just came across. Believe it or not it was painted in 1556 by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Looks to me like some kind of modernist painting from the twenties or thirties (that's 1920s or 1930s).

Oh, the title of this one is "The Librarian"

By the way, his artillery at Bataan did have enough left to sink an AMc I sent.

Marching south out of Burma is indeed a measure of hefty gall. A proper Gorn would remove his gall! Do you have the capability to heavily recon Moulmein? It might be fun to amphib him there.

7/15/42 (I think I had the last map dated ahead). I have been biding my time at Bataan (for way too long methinks). My recon had been consistently estimating his strength to be in the mid 50ks, which meant he outnumbered me two to one. Here I took a crack at him to find out.

Raiden had been thrusting toward the sea in southern China but due to daily bombing he decided to back up. I will be coming after him soon.

In the original movie, James Aurness was too handsome a devil to play me.

However, I do sound like him when someone puts a torpedo in one of my ships. rrrrRRRRrrrrr!

By the way, Raiden is already talking about playing another game with the same sides. He must be about ready to surrender.
