Status: offline 		Blizzard is an horrible experience for GHC and I wanted to try the new "reduced blizzard" developped by Morvael.

My opponent is frogmarc, it'a a GC, full FOW, locked HQ, no home rules. I hope that frogmarc isn't a chessplayer like Schascha...

It's my 6th GC versus human as german. (3W 2L).

This AAR will focuse on the mild blizzard and his effects so we go directly to turn 17, before the mud

and my plans for the snow turns for the 11-1941 snow offensive



due to my overextended lines, I was unable to achieve my goals, and only gained some ground near Rostov, Kalinin and Kaluga

I decided to hold the line, even in the South!

The soviets attacks were efficient in cleaar terrain but:

- I was able to counterattack during the 2nd turn of blizzard





-I used Pzd in cities like anchors or firemen

I continue to counterattack. want to hold Voronezh, Kaluga and Kalinin but give ground in front of Ryazan and Rostov

Status: offline 		Blizzard is now over! It was a fantastic winter with intense fighting.

I tried to hold ground in the South and fought hard for Voronezh. It was a mistake, I suffered huge losses and retreated till the end of February.

North of Kaluga, I was able to counterattack begining end january.

In the north, the finns had to retreat.



Now both armies are exhausted

Status: offline 		700 Operational tanks and 0 armaments. GHC is going to have a rough start in 42. I'd keep my tank divisions off the front and on rails until early June. Let the infantry and motorized units do early spring operations.

Status: offline 		thanks for putting this up. Further evidence that the mild blizzard really does give a far more fun experience and with the winter period often ending with German counterblows at least somewhere on the front.

The price, as DV notes, seems to be a relative burn out of the Axis mobile units, leaving both armies badly damaged by the fighting?

You have an interesting game in progress.

Not surprising that your tank counts are low; it should be expected whenever they're over-used.

In fact the game is now early may 1942.

I kept quiet and didn't attack during March.

700 tanks is very low but 1941's tanks are useless in 1943

My main concern is the low number of squad rifle available. I was under 25K end february.

After these blizzard fights, we were both exhausted and the front line remained globally quiet until the end of the mud.

I refited my PZ/Mot between Kalinin and Stalino ans gathered theme between Tula and Bielgorod just before the first turn of clear weather.

Frogmarc heavily reinforced his lines around Moscow and from Tula to Voronezh. The approaches of Rostov were also deeply defended.

I decided to use the 50MP of my mech units in order to hit the weakiest part of the front and to create my first 1942 Pocket

On the map: mouvement des PZG => PZG moves
Masses russes => russians masses/troops

The Pocket isn't totally sealed but it will be hard to rescue them as the best part of russian army is north of Voronezh

The situation in the South.

Pockets are cleared. Next turn will be mud.

Frogmarc is decided to defend the whole Don line. That's ok for me.

I give him another reason to reinforce this sector as I crossed the Don with 2 Pz and 3 Inf. My other Pzg remain quiet and a whole Pzg is sent back and hidden in cities.



And the OOB, SHC declines due to the loss of the units in pockets.

Status: offline 		And I strike. Inf Divs break the lines, Pz/Mot coming from Boguchar continues and the closests Pz/Mot end the task. The Pocket won't hold but the defence in this sector is broken.

certainly makes me think that in the early summer of 1942 its not a good idea for the Soviets to leave their best units in the immediate front lines

I agree.

On my opinion, Rifle corps should be used to press the german line not to defend. GHC as a high mobility which allows him to choose the weak point of the defence.

SHC should also think as "german player". For example, in my game, Frogmarc moved a lot if units to defend the Don line. It was a mistake, it's too diificult to supply units far away in this area.

SHC sends massive reinforcement to reopen the pocket and block my advance but I keep my momentum



Heavy fights! Losses are unsustainable on a long term



And the OOB, russians are just below 6.8M men

Frogmarc managed to reopen the main Pocket and isolate my spearheads...



... but the southern units are now isolated: time to harvest



Effect on the OOB is immediate



And of course, I firmly close the northern Pocket

Pocket cleared! I ignore Moscow and drive east. My objective is the destruction of the red army and Moscow is a strong nut at the moment.



Russian OOB declines sharply due to the multiple encirclements



But as I drive hard, my pools are very low!
