Has anyone built a Vietnam downed-aircrew rescue scenario? I got bored at work today and started listing units and locations, what sorts of missions they'd be assigned to, triggers and events, etc. If there's nothing similar out there already, I'll build it next time I get some time on CMANO.

I haven't written one like this yet, exactly, but it can probably be set up like this...

1) Downed pilot is a non-player side. If you don't want to know where the pilot is, set postures so that the player is Friendly towards the pilot, but the pilot is only Neutral towards the player...he'll show up Blue when you find him, but he won't show up at all until you find him.

2) An area is defined with reference points relative (fixed bearing) to the downed pilot unit. The area will move with the pilot.

3) Player units spending a certain amount of time within that area will Trigger a teleport unit Action--the pilot "disappears" because he is now on the rescue helicopter; the Event probably also includes a message Action and a points Action.

I hope this helps.

Mark

Yep, that was more or less the plan. I was thinking I'd have the crew's location known (emergency beacon, radio's, etc) but nearby enemy ground troops to add time pressure.

Many thanks for that one, It is a keeper!
