And now they've received an invitation to come in and "help with security" from the Russian Crimeans. Classic cold war situation. Already a couple of thousand extra Russian soldiers have come in and started to "help with security". There'll be more. A lot more.

Wait a minute. I thought they were volunteers from not Russia and the Kremlin disavowed all knowledge of them.

Pretty poor control over your men and materiel when they can abscond with all manner of Mi-24, Mi-8 helicopters and a bunch of APCs with the Russian flag on them in a well choreographed armed invasion. Unless the Kremlin was lying. You don't think...NO! That's not possible.

This'll go over real well with the Tatar minority in Crimea, I'm sure.

And now Russian Parliament has authorized use of force to defend Russian lives and interests. It is a coup. If the U.S. were to have done this, there would be world outrage. Heck, there was! But Russia? China? Naw, that's ok The world will say a few bad things & let it slide.

No, war is not coming. If you think so then run to your bunkers, shut yourselves down, and learn how to eat field greens.

The Russians are doing what the Russians will do following 300 years of history. If the US SecState Kerry asshole don't get it, maybe he should have gone to another school that teaches critical thinking.

Nobody is saying that there'll be a world war. But Russia is certainly looking to go to war with Ukraine, and it'll be perfectly real for the people in it.

True. But Russia has had the Crimea since forever, and why not just take it from a universally recognized useless regime, that has a name and borders that were given by Russia, for political purposes, for the establishment of the UN?

Both the EU and the US use the principle of "self determination" when it suits their interests. God help anyone who uses "self determination" as a principle that interferes with the political imperitives of the US and EU. Cimea is Russian. And if they want to recover it, who's to say? Yes, let's have a disussion of 500 years worth of Russian history, and then revisit this subject.

No world war (they aren't that stupid, and we eat too many canapes), but the Russians are going to take what they need from Ukraine, and kick Ukrainian butt where necessary, brainless John Kerry, notwithstanding. Just read the Rus Inf Journal, M.N.Janeczko, for a bit of background. Ciao. John

Well, some good news on my homefront, and some bragging rights too!

My son, John, and his Quiz Buster's team won their tournament today and have qualified for the State Tournament!

Any, my mother is doing well enough after her first treatment. Just very fatigued, but no vomiting or nausea.

Hi all,

I think that this situation is extremely dangerous and threatening...

It is also quite eerie to think that scenario of war between Ukraine and Russia for flight simulations: "Su-27 Flanker 1.x", "Su-27 Flanker 2.x" and "Lock On: Modern Air Combat" is coming through... I was heavily involved with design and testing of those years ago (it is almost 20 years since the first one)...

Well, maybe the Falklands isn't the worst place the RAF can send me. I seem to recall that last time we (UK) went to the Crimea it wasn't exactly a glorious success. Who'd have thought a sociopathic ex-KGB agent would go around doing the same stuff he's been advising the west not to do?...

Hope there's no sizeable Russian populace in Finland, the Baltic states, Belarus, Kazakhstan or the UK that needs cross-border 'protection' Putin-style.

What? There is? Crap...

Woke up this morning, opened the door to my kitchen, stood and looked very silly for a while. While I was asleep, my kitchen sink had literally exploded with black, brackish water. It was about 6 feet up the walls, into cupboards and drawers, on the floor...

Just a great way to start the week. Yaaaay!

78°F here today but we have sand storms clouding things up. It's a white sandstorm so my understanding from the locals is it's from Sinai when its Orange its from the Sahara.
