Hmmm ...

SWEBDE is advancing along MSR A running from NARVIK to KIRUNA when the Bde S6 hands over a paper with the comment "New orders, Sir".

Opening it, you read; "SWEBDE will immediately halt its advance, turn around and return to NARVIK at once. Once there, the Bde will;

1/ board the transports of TF85, commanded by RADM Shintaro Hashimoto aboard the CL Sendai, for immediate transport to the invasion target Khota Bharu.
2/ Immediately start prepping for the invasion site.

The invasion will be supported by a bombardment TF centered around the BB Haruna, RADM N. Inano commanding, as well as LBA based at Saigon.

The beach is estimated to be defended by one Indian Bde plus support troops.

ORBAT plus relevant annexes to be handed out in ten minutes.

Please hand in your invasion plan NLT time of reciept + 4 hrs.

Poor Alex took a hard shot square in the grill in his last game of the season Saturday night. Later in the game, he was knocked over and hit the side of his head on the goal post. He came away with a mild concussion. CT scan shows no bleeding or swelling, but 4 days later he still has a severe headache and some nausea. Went to a neurology specialist in concussions this morning and he is not worried about any damage, only trying to get Alex to feel better and recover from the headache. Most likely, the concussion has triggered a migraine as well. Dr pulled Alex out of school for the rest of the week and started a strong migraine treatment for several days. No physical activity, no computer, video games, television, or even texting on his phone. Alex is pretty miserable, but his mom and I are extremely relieved that there is no permanent damage.

Man... Poor little dude. Here's hoping for a speedy (and full) recovery, Mike.

Being one who had a few concussions in my time, one by sports, the other by fast car that was not in a sporting event, although it was a sports car. Note the past tense, as it was not recognizable as a car afterwards. Concussions are nothing to sneeze at. Glad there is no permanent damage. I few days of "discomfort" from being "unplugged" is good for one's soul. Hope he feels better soon!

Dodged a bullet, good for him and a relief for you! What's he gonna do for the week? Meditation? Radio/podcasts? Trigonometry and calculus using pen and paper? No matter what he'll get tired of it after a couple of hours.

Boredom will be his biggest battle for the next several days.

Doc said reading is ok for 30 minutes at a time, Marc. Now, Alex thinks that's way too long to read, but that's another problem.

I'll throw this out there, any of the Threadsters want to give me a job? The ideal employer will be willing to pay me a lot (or even just quite a lot) of money. If they own (or can steal) a Hawker Hurricane then I'm surely the leading candidate!

Did you record it so we can all laugh a little now that we know he's OK? Hope he gets better soon (by which I mean just after it's too late to send him to school for the week!)

Even though you lot don't have much of a naval aviation group or an air force to speak of, what's the job market like on the 'commercial' aviation side of things?

It's there, if people are willing to travel/work unsocial hours etc. My current role falls between the two civilian equivalents, the lower job is not badly paid (but less than I earn now generally) but has a lower level of responsibility. The higher job is a lot more pay (and responsibility) but needs licenses which cost a lot of money.

Truth be told, unless someone wants to pay me to maintain their WW2 era aircraft I'd like to leave aviation.

I remember reading one of the preservation groups in the US, not sure if it was Collings or Confederate AF was looking for someone experienced working with WW2 aircraft. It was several months ago, but worth looking at.

Approaching endex old boy. By the time I get back from the Falklands I'll have about a year left.

I haven't seen the Dak since Monday, she was uncooperative then and I can't imagine she's got any hetter since then.

Ok. Friend Grollub recommends having a beer. That always helps for some reason

So you're well and truly heading off then? I'd been thinking that it was a 'maybe / probably one of these days' sort of thing.

Thanks for all of the well wishes for Alex. The aggressive treatment plan with migraine medication and ibuprofen is already making a huge difference.
