I decided to start cataloguing all the stupid things I have seen in UV to demonstrate that only a few things are dumber than the AI. In this battle, for instance, of 26 fighters that should have been escorting my bombers, only 16 actually did so. And even then, they only escorted one group of torpedo bombers. Out of 41 torpedo bombers, only 6 survived. Fortunately, my dive bombers were able to get through.

So, why did the AI refuse to send all the aircraft that were available? Why did cap-and-gown allow the AI to control his troops?

Funny enough, your dead TBD's tired out all his CAP so your SBD's could come through and cream his CV's ...

Escorts are not to prevent planes from being shot down, they are there to absorb bullets and burn fuel so when it comes time to shoot at the bombers, you can't ;)

I would REALLY LOVE to see some form of AMMO limit on planes, as when I get the message that CAP "God" has been credited with kill number 12 (during 1 fight!) I gotta wonder just what he used to shoot down the plane???

Hmm, I have never seen the "and is sunk" message in a sub attack report. Could it be that someone has been doctoring their AARs?

Yes, Cap & Gown, the AI just does stuff no one would do in real life. Why, take a look at this AAR. I thought I'd spotted a couple of USN CVs in a TF in this port, so I put some of my Vals and Kates on Port Attack, and some on Naval Attack. I guess the CVs moved, but instead of tracking, finding, and attacking the CVs, my dumb AI pilots just attacked surface ships in port! Jeesh. If only I could minutely control which plane attacks which ship, as in real life.

No patch for me. Lousy supply. SOPAC leaves me to rot on this island while the brass drinks gin and tonics in the shade of a palm tree. You guys in the rear have it made.

Okay - if anyone happens to run across the AAR for the SSN Seawolf please remember TASM performance parameters are classified until 1943.

Thank you.
