This is why I always buy the version with a disc. Once I misplaced my disk to WITP. My wife still recalls the tantrums! Luckily I found it in the last place I looked. Funny how that works every time.

When you finally get your DL, save the load module to your backup disk (you do have a backup disk don't you ). Then if it happens again or the program just gets buggered you can reload from scratch without having to deal with Matrix.

At least I can take solace in the fact that the money is being well used.

Oh yes! Very much so! Do you feel good and 'solaced' now? How about a turn Cochese?

You might consider pulling your Devastators from a CV or two and replacing them with a squadron of Marine fighters. Survivabilty is the key early in the game as the Allies.

Naval search - you migth want some overlap on your search arcs with multiple squadrons doing the search. Expecting 1 PBY to find every ship in their 10 degress of search is asking a lot. Knowing the coders sense of humor, the critical arc will be covered by the pilot with the least amount of experience in the squadron and miss the enemy fleet.

You don't need to off load the Devastators to have room for a Marine fighter squadron. The CVs all start under capacity with the 27 count fighter squadrons. You can fit an 18 count Marine squadron on them, be slightly over capacity, but not enough to curtail flight ops and wait until the CV fighter squadrons resize to 36 before having to make any adjustments.

They'd look about the same, just side by side?

And where is there a broody basic MSPaint in Windows 8?

Do I have to read a manual? It doesn't even have one?

I want to post a screenshot so someone tells me where the buggering is happening.

Right, on the first pass, I got a PWHEX incompatibility error trying to load a save in "stock"

I fixed that be pasting over the stock PWHEX and the other two files.

I then got stock to run but it lagged badly. Hitting Alt tab and then back cause it to run great but with graphical and text errors.

Where is a good trash 80 when you need one! I think you need to modify those letters on your start file to account for your new laptop. You probably have a speed demon and it isnt configured for multicore motherboards (i have no idea what the right word is).

right click the desktop icon for your game for properties. on the target spot use this:
"C:\Matrix Games\2 X 2\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -dd_sw -cpu4 -SingleCpuOrders -multiaudio -deepColor -dd_sw -altFont -f

note that i only want you to use the stuff after the ". that is this:
-dd_sw -cpu4 -SingleCpuOrders -multiaudio -deepColor -dd_sw -altFont -f

Try getpaint.net

As always these days with any free software, step through the installation process carefully so that you do not also inadvertently allow it to install other software (i.e. read the installation options carefully and if necessary un-check boxes and so on to not select installation of other software. Think of Java's attempts to install the Ask Toolbar, but realize that they use various visual means to try and obscure the options.).

Right, so you have renamed the sub- folders under Matrix Games and installed the whole damn thing perhaps 4 x (unless the "Castortroy" folder has intimate photos or something.

Seems to me that is exactly what I did.

Broody confusing. I wonder if I screwed up the Art folder?

DU: ...............Foreign bank accounts?

FAM: What do you think? Do you have a bank account in the Bahamas I don't know about?

DU: No. ....How about foreign real estate holdings?

FAM: <face palm> Do you still have that villa in Spain?

DU: Dad, don't be mean.

Young William from the Khyber Pass's technical solution actually worked.

The laptop just screams through scrolling. I now have a DBB and latest Beta install both with desktop pointers!

The only problem is all the ship names are in Ukranian.

Which, very soon, means that they will all be in Russian.

Any predictions on when the Ukranian's will fall below their garrison level and the Russians will activate?

It's already happened. If you look at the Ukranian map hexes, you'll note that several of them have sustained airfield or port damage from insufficient garrison AVs. There is a RED exclamation mark on the Crimea hex, for example. Hex side control have gone RED on the eastern Ukranian hex sides as well, allowing seamless Russian movement into the Eastern Ukranian hexes as well as Crimea.

Until now I didn't realize that moving those little markers on Google Earth had that effect. I'll put them back right away.
