Hello Everyone,

Attached is the fixed updater for all of you having issues using the updater to update your game. Please unzip this into your install directory and overwrite both files. Some things to note: Any security software, such as antivirus firewalls and sandbox software, should be disabled when you update as the updater will replace these files as part of the update process.

Cheers,
Gerry

When the updater runs it downloads information that effectively replaces the 2 files that control the update process. If something blocks the changes they will break.

Sorry I'm a thicky at all things computers. The sentence says "Some things to not" and "but be disabled". Are you saying must be disabled? and if so is this dangerous?

Thanks

Didn't work for me. Windows 8.1 on Parallels on Macbook Pro, so not supported configuration. Oh well.

Edit: I played with some network settings and it told me I had the latest version - furthest I've managed to go so far, so that's promising! For posterity I'm using "Bridged" mode with the default adapter. Maybe this will clear up some net play issues I was having too - we'll see!

Hi Warspite,

I had a typo and the wrong word in there. Not should have been Note and but should have been should. What i was trying to say is when you update you should disable your security software and after it is updated re-enable them.

Gerry, I think this issue is more widespread than you know. I posted the following on the original thread.

"I get this as a general problem with Matrix's games if I try to update from a game's launch screen. I have never seen it as a major issue as downloading the update from the forum instead has always worked for me."

I don't know if it affects more recent games as I gave up on using the "Check for Update" button on launch screens a very long time ago and now always update my games from the appropriate forum.

Not for me on my 7 either. And the Search and Seizure bug is...

well bugging me.

Usually I have just skipped it, but with both Japan and Italy wanting to S&S, I have not well, been able to.

Did you read post #8 in this thread? It should clarify the original post (#1).

Will this work if I have changed the map and unit data? And for more recent patches since 3.02? Do I need to do 3.03 and 3.04 separately? Thanks.

Could it be that you try and run it from the desktop?

If so, then try and put the install exe in a folder. Don't run it from the Desktop.

Very very likely that is the issue. Put the installer in a folder, not on the desktop.

The issue is that you are running the the exe file from inside the unzip program. What you've to do is to fully unzip the zip file to a folder in your hardisk and then yes, you can run the installer file.

I am running 3.02 with map and unit color and some data changes like Kakhi mod. Will the patches work if I have changed the map and unit data?

Also, since I am starting with 3.02 do I need to add 3.03 and 3.04 separately? Thanks.

If the zip file does not contain unit or map files then it's just an EXE replacement. Both 3.03 and 3.04 are hot patches that replace only the EXE. There may also be a "fixes since" document with them but that will have no effect.
