Got a new cleaning kit for the Taurus from Hoppe's. It's a Bore Snake, and no worries, it works great. I just noticed a teensy little thing on the bottom line of the advert insert in the bubble-pack. "The World's Fastest Gun Bore Cleaner" .. yeah, yeah, but at the very end ...

Pistol * .357-38mm, 9mm Caliber Pistols * 34002

You would think Hoppe's would catch that, but nope.

Thinking of writing them a note saying their 34002 Bore Snake is a bit small for my 38mm pistol.

Hi John. Just letting you know we all know you can't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside with a .45 with your eyes open
You know that I know your quals, and it's nice to see you finally got a 9mm so you don't hurt yourself

As my game with the Penguin passes into 6/43, I'm looking forward to my first amphibious assault in the Central Pacific, aiming at Tarawa. I have no doubt that I have enough land power to take it, but as usual air cover will be critical. I just got the Essex, but I think I'll have to wait for the Independence to show up too. Waiting will also give my few available CVEs time to get repaired (along with all the other ships I have in the body shop).

The other active theatre is in Burma, where I've sucked about 60000 of his soldiers into a siege at Warazup. The plan is for the XXXIII Indian Corps to keep them busy there, whilst IV Indian Corps moves on Shwebo and Mandalay in the West. It'll be costly, but MAYBE I can do an "Inchon" and cut off the "Pusan perimeter" and bag those IJA troops.

Jeez, I have to admire the tempo of your game.

Are you plaing two day turns? One/Two turns/day?

One day turns. Number of turns per day are somewhat variable, but it's always at least two. I think the top number was six or seven in one day.

Back from Rochester, my Cho Dan test and the tournament. A long hot shower, a beer and a change of clothes have me sinking into a weary, yet happy delirium.

I will be formally presented with my first Dan (first degree black belt or "Cho Dan" in Korean) in Tang Soo Do early next month. For now, it's 'unofficial', but I passed.

Tournament today-I placed first in open hand forms, first in sparring, second in weapons.

You know, guys, getting a trophy for kicking some other guy in the ribs and head isn't half bad.

Someone was kind enough to send me this picture from the 'breaking' portion of the test. I love breaking stuff.

Mrs. Chickenboy and I have been experimenting with 'atypical' cuts of meat lately. A couple weeks ago it was beef tongue. Totally underrated. A tender, lean, tasty cut of meat.

This weekend it was beef 'cheeks'. Browned in a pan with olive oil, herbs and sea salt and then slow cooked in a crock pot with stock, stewed tomatoes, potatoes and carrots for 4 hours. Beef cheek stew = melt in your mouth goodness.

Good morning, a stormy morning here in Middle Tennessee. We are hoping it rains all day and the sun doesn't come out. That way when the big line of storms moves through all the energy has been already "rained out". If the sun comes out for any long period of time, it may be a different story...

No tornadoes here, although we did have a little snow Saturday morning, and sleet at noon on Saturday. The surrounding mountains were mostly snow covered until the sun got doing its job in the afternoon.

Bit of a tornado, here. Met an Argentine gal, part of a group negotiating with Austral. 50 or so, black hair, blue eyes, trim, loves horses and has the body to match. She may be a skoosh older lady, but she's really loud. Think something could happen here. She's from San Carlos de Bariloche and knows where I live in Chile.

Pray for me. I may be in the best place I could ever be - in over my head. Her name's Estelle and she's an Alfieri-Delapenna. Woof !! John

Thanks a lot "buddy". You do manage to fit the Traditional Navy definition of a "buddy" there.
