Its amazing the impact a small issue can have in this kind of game, or indeed in real life.
One small issue can lead to a whole chain of problems.
That's why the "minutae details" are so important in this kind of game.
If the game was faster paced, this interaction with the HQ may have gone un-noticed, and the player would have been left wondering why he was left with a draw, when it should have been a decisive victory.

Being held up by TF Hogan HQ for so long has not only had a knock on effect on my schedule for taking the bridge, but it has also affected the combat effectiveness of the 2 main infantry Coy's, involved in securing it.
The Objective became active at D1, 20:00, and without the holdup, 60 Pz Gren Regt would already been settled into defensive positions around Hotton, and getting the vital rest they will need to fend of the inevitable counter attacks.
This is assuming all goes well with the attack on the bridge itself.
Instead most are waiting around in vulnerable positions, in the cold, which is not conducive for good rest, (units recover faster in built up areas in cold weather), while my main infantry component gets more, and more fatigued, and ineffective trying to take out a unit that should have folded hours ago.

I am now starting to lose points by not holding the bridge, and my patience is running thin with TF Hogan HQ issue.

I am going to have to have a break on this for a bit.
I have been re tasked to make a video for my daughters wedding, and its going to take up my evenings for quite a while.
First I need to learn how to do it in Premier Pro, then get all our footage we have taken over the years, and try to edit it into some sort of presentation.
In other words, its going to take quite a while!

Thanks for your lovely comments so far guys.
Ill try to pick it up again when I get done, or I have a spare day.

A book should be made of your AAR's.

Well, if your AAR presentations are any indication then I'm sure the wedding video will turn out quite well!

Looking forward to your return.

Thanks

Thanks guys.

So far I only have a 30 sec intro clip!
Its a steep learning curve, and I thought I had left myself plenty of time until the wedding, but at this rate, I may not even meet the deadline!
I'm getting faster as I pick up more techniques though.

I expect that after the wedding I will be making another of the wedding itself, so don't expect an update to the AAR for a while.

Sorry about that.

This is very off topic for these forums, but I have posted the fist slide transition on You tube, for my daughters wedding, if your interested.
Hopefully it will get a few laughs, and set the mood for what I hope will be a fun slide show.

I have been experimenting with the legibility of the text in my AAR's.
The problem I have been having is, as my images are so large, I have to reduce the quality dramatically, and this affects the legibility of the text.
This image for example is 5 meg, and I have to reduce it down to below 1 meg to post it on the forum.
I hope you find it an improvement, let me know if you preferred the old colours.

I'm fine with either of the font styles. Both are very legible to me.

Thanks!

Thanks Rick
This is another experiment.
I have so far been keeping the slides to a set width which is the width of my monitor at 100% resolution.

This slide is very big as I wanted to get a lot on it. It probably means you will have to scroll your page to see it.
Let me know if you would rather I keep to smaller slides or if you like being able to see most of the battlefield, like you can in this one.

I like the big map for the big picture.

On your previous maps one often had to scroll vertically anyway.

I would like a larger monitor :-)

I have to scroll both horizontally and vertically for most of your images anyway. I had started printing these images so I could follow easier while playing, but I found I couldn't fit them on standard print sheet without reducing so much I couldn't read them so I stopped printing.

I think a new pdf format tutorial would be helpful to new players using your images. I don't know if you are involved in the Command Ops II beta - but if you could be, you should try and do a pdf tutorial for that using your graphics presentation style when it comes out.

Rick
