Could you please add the civilian IMINT satellites GeoEye-1, WorldView-1/2, and Pleiades-1/1B? I'd also like the civilian MASINT satellites TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X, though they're a bit odd, and can be considered the same satellite for all intents and purposes. I ask as the IMINT satellite coverage drops dramatically after the cold war, and it would be nice to add some of the civilian assets that partially replaced the military ones.

We would need satellite orbit info for these, including start, end, comm and de-comm dates.

Thanks

Launch and orbital parameter data are in the linked names, I'll edit with expected lifetimes.

GeoEye-1: Launch 2008, plan lifetime 7 years.
WorldView-1: Launch 2007, plan lifetime 7 years.
WorldView-2: Launch 2009, plan lifetime 7 years.
Pléiades-1A: Launch 2011, plan lifetime 5 years.
Pléiades-1B: Launch 2012, plan lifetime 5 years.
TerraSAR: Launch 2007, plan lifetime 8 years.
TanDEM: Launch 2010, plan lifetime 8 years.

I should add that all of these are currently in service, and actual lifetimes are likely to extend somewhat beyond the planned ones.

Would like South Korean Destroyers with helicopter capabilities to have their DB entry of A/C facilities improved from "small aircraft" to "medium" so they can interact with ROKN SH60s. Unless it was intentional to have it this way.

The South Korean navy currently uses Lynx Mk.99 aircraft and will transition to a newer variant called the Wildcat. I do think they do have UH-60's but these are for Dokdo. Have they purchased MH-60R's or do they plan to?

Notably, the KDX-3 Sejong the Great-class can carry at least 1, possibly 2 SH-60s, which isn't surprising, given it's large size. As for their sale, the first of 8 MH-60Rs was delivered in the last few months, and this is the notification of the order for the helicopters.

Trying to confirm this, as a ROK MH-60R would be sweet, but finding the opposite

The "possible Foreign Military Sale" is dated May 16, 2012 and

quote:

LONDON — South Korea has formally chosen the AgustaWestland AW159 Wildcat helicopter to meet its maritime helicopter requirements.

The decision, while not finalized, will mark the first export order for the new helicopter, which is currently undergoing trials for its operational introduction with the British army later this year. The Royal navy is set to deploy the aircraft on ships in 2015.

The decision was announced by the Republic of Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on Jan. 15. The agency said that following evaluations based on contract costs, operational suitability and other conditions in the field, the Wildcat had come out ahead of the Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin MH-60R Seahawk.

from http://aviationweek.com/awin/aw159-wildcat-wins-south-korean-competition is dated Jan 16, 2013

Has something changed since 1/2013 and if so, probably need some links

PS There are some UH-60Ps in the ROKN per Scramble

I'm pretty sure that I confused the Australian MH-60R delivery with a South Korean one. Sorry for the confusion.

well, the only confirming information about Sh60 on the KDX3 is Wikipedia, and it states space for one SH60. So, I'm not sure.
But it would kind of make sense to have the capabilities to carry a SH60, for SAR and transport purposes. Not sure about facts, though.

I know there probably isn't a great deal of info on these yet. But the reason not much is known about them could mainly be because their country of origin tends to not be as open on such things to the general public, not because they are hypothetical future units. We all know they will almost certainly be deployed in the not too distant future, likely earlier than some existing DB entries, ie Queen Elizabeth.

I understand there is a general policy to only add units once firm details are available and they are confirmed to be ordered, deployed, etc. But I suspect many enthusiasts of this game are very interested in scenarios involving China, especially those set in the near future.

Can you please please with sugar on top consider adding some of the units that are almost surely soon to be deployed and possibly currently being built by china such as a future carrier, type 081 LHD, type 095 submarine, type 039C submarine, type 55 destroyer, z-20 helicopter, and carrier based AEW aircraft? There would of course be some guesswork but these could be updated/corrected as more information becomes available.

At the risk of being a putz, could I request a generic light CATOBAR carrier? Something capable of handling Rafales/F-35Cs/F/A-18Es but with only a catapult or two and a small ~20 aircraft hangar? Like Zumwalt's CVS-type light carriers Really, I just need a basic ship - I can add the sensors and self-defense weapons myself. I tried using the Foch as a base, but it doesn't handle modern aircraft. I'd like to explore the operational concept of a modern light CATOBAR carrier.

Effectively, something like this:

I started a scenario that would put a modern 100k ton CVN and battlegroup up against a trio of 35k ton light CVs and (identical) escorts. Then I found out that while Clemenceau could carry F-35s and E-2s, it couldn't take a Super Hornet. Which means no Growlers. I decided to play Duelists instead, and my lack of free time turned that into an eight week journey. :-)

I'm still going to build it, but without Growlers on either side. So yeah, I second the request.

Not a request for a specific platform here, but, I would like to see generic single-unit mobile infantry and armor battalions, with all associated weapons. This would make it easier to cobble together large mobile elements up to a division in size without drastically slowing down one's system with thousands of individual AU's. I've done it on a smaller scale with adding weapons records to a tank platoon but it's VERY time, and computer-resource consuming for a player to do without an editor.

[ADDED DB v440]

Any chance you could add the SM-3 Block II/IIA? They would add an interesting dynamic for some near-future PRC/USN scenarios, as most Chinese SAR satellites are inside the engagement envelope for the Block II/IIA interceptors.

Guidance should be the same as the SM-3 Block IB (already in game).
Target speed should probably be increased over the Block IB to at least 15000 kts or set to unlimited like the ALMV.
I have found no info on minimum target altitude, but I would assume it is the same as the Block IB
Max target altitude should be at least 1400000 meters (Lower estimate of max altitude for Block II based on higher burnout speed)
Missile velocity for the upper band should be 8750 kts, or 4.5 km/s, which is the lower estimate for the burnout speed of the new 21" booster
Ph should be 95%, consistent with other ASATs/ABM systems in game.
Range should probably be on the order of 500 NM (again, hard to find specific numbers)
Year should either be 2015 (First flight test) or 2016-2017 (Likely IOC). This would mean that the 2015 AEGIS BMD ships should receive the ability to load the Block II's in their VLS tubes. (They are entries 2342, 2343 and 2344 in DB3K)

Sources: http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-161.html
http://allthingsnuclear.org/aegis-as-asat/

On the topic of ASATs, the F-15 ASAT (Entry 1994) shouldn't have it's gun, as the ammunition drum was removed to provide cooling for the ALMV. Only a wiki source on this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASM-135_ASAT#Design

A great resource for what to add to a single-unit battalion or brigade could be seen here: http://fas.org/man/dod-101/army/unit/toe/

I envision a single-unit battalion as a slow moving unit, (no faster than it's slowest component) with a large number of hit-points, and armed with the number and types of weapons and sensors that would be standard in the TO&E. So, a modern, US tank battalion would need:
4 CARRIER, 120MM MORTAR
5 CARRIER CP
4 MORTAR 120MM
2 TANK, M1A2
5 TRK, CARGO 8X8
3 TRK, MTV W/E
10 TRK, 8X8 HVY EXP
20 TRK, CARGO, LMTV W/
5 TRK, LMTV, W/E W/W
24 HMMWV
3 CARRIER, COMD AND CTRL
5 COMMAND LAUNCH (JAVELIN)
1 CARRIER, ARMORED
14 TANK, M1A2
1 TRK, LMTV W/E
2 HMMWV

Add a few of these armored units together with a few similar single-unit infantry battalions, and BAM! quick and easy 4th Infantry Division (example).
It's not the most realistic depiction of a gigantic mobile force on the ground with tens of thousands of vehicles, and a hundred thousand men- but a dozen such units grouped together would be a lot easier for my machine to manage, and would make for some interesting gameplay, nonetheless.

I believe we need to take a long hard look at how the generic ground units should be made up to make them useful. Copying orbats from Russian and US units hardly makes them generic for example. Since it isn't anything that will be happening soon I guess we have the time to get a concensus on a good solution.

Yeah and logically there is a bigger issue with how the unit will fight, move etc.

Definitely not a near term thing and might need a bit more than hacks to the database to work. Good news is the developers are still around and willing to help.

I'd just appreciate anything done along these lines, because large mobile fighting units are needed in-game, and I'd like to add them quickly, and as efficiently as possible, without killing my PC with hundreds of individual AU's fighting each other. With the right tools, I'd be happy to help develop and test the concept.... ;)

Soviet orbats are still in widespread use throughout the world - certainly enough to be generic. You might not get the exact right MANPAD for your Syrian motor rifle battalion, but generic means you'll get something close enough.

Mixing and matching US/Russian/etc equipment within widespread Soviet-style orbats certainly helps makes things generic.
