Oh, my God !!! What a half !!! Brasil plays thick, Chile plays crease. Both sides are playing generally similar, but I’ve seen both of them change-up. So far the best game for Vidal, but there's always Sanchez, Vargas, and Bausejour, and one cannot discount Silva. This is not good for my heart.

BTW, oh, yeah, Howard is one of the best and he is showing it. He is letting the game flow. This is FIFA Futbol at its finest. No matter what happens, this game will become a classic. No matter what happens, I wish all of you the joy of it. JWE

Soccer gods decided. Great game. Final kick-off didn't help our side. Oh, well. Guess I should offer Brasil the joy of the win. They did earn it. JWE

So sad for the Chileans - played their part in a great match. Smashing the bar with 15 seconds left too. Losing on penalties sucks - and as an Englishman I know all about that

As said though, I think the right result for the tournament.

Found myself crying out loud scaring my son after that ball on the bar... What a fight.. Would have been sad seeing Brasil go but am equally sad for Chili...

Ahhhhh!!! Such a good match! Chile was too good to go out here. Too bad. Brasil was better than I've seen them so far though, too.

The Columbians were awesome too. That first goal was magic. Wow.

What a tournament!

My wife and I watched at a cool bar. Beer helped with the disappointment.

A great match by both sides. Frankly surprised only two goals scored with the back and forth.

IMHO Brazil still has a lot of work to do. They will not win this tournament methinks. Others are playing much better.

PS - How much is James from Colombia adding to his next contract. That first goal was insane. Degree of difficulty was off the charts.

Wow! Classic between Mexico and the Netherlands. The Dutch just got their second of two in the last 5 minutes of regular time.

Robben goes down, and I'm not watching live so can't see it. Was it real?

Huge disappointment for Mexico. Tough for them now. I was watching the first half at the gym and they looked the better team.

Only one that fell for Robbens dive was the ref. Pretty shameful imo. Too much of that in this tournament.

Mexico was the better team for most of the game. 1 - 1 was well deserved and a bit of luck with the penalty... Close call but very exciting to watch..

Sadly the Mexicans got what they deserved. They were the better team, the Dutch looked a shadow of their usual selves, but then Mexico get a goal.

From then on they were simply not in the slightest interested in getting the ball in the Dutch half. They were sloppy, lost possession regularly, and invited corner after corner.

I am normally a Dutch fan but I am really angry at how the Mexicans threw that away.

Robben did jump over another challenge before that, when he could have just dived as well. I think the penalty was fair and the challenge from Rafa unnecessary. He does dive a lot though, that's true But from the minute Dos Santos got taken off for a defensive player, me and my dad were just cursing at Herrera (the coach, not the player). We didn't think 1-0 could be defended for 30 minutes and unfortunately this turned out to be correct

First half was arguably a penalty. The deciding penalty was exactly the kind of nonsense from Robben that is so often rewarded. Was it justice given the probably missed call in first half? Maybe, but Robben's antics leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Agree that Mexico made a tactical error. They scored, pulled a striker and sat back. Meanwhile, the Dutch made attacking subs, pulled the game wide, and took control of a match that Mexico was clearly winning to that point. The Mexican team made their bed and eventually lay in it. A shame for CONCACAF and a shame for Ochoa, who played like a beast yet again.

Soccer always has its share of controversial calls, but too many games are turning on them. The only flaw in an otherwise brilliant tourney.

Oh, gosh yes. the game should have been decided on your opinion on a penalty. Maybe we should all just go home and let you, in your infinite wisdom, decide who gets what. Maybe?? Woof !! Not !!.

yeah watching the penalty again, you're right at link below, I was just looking at Rafa's legs being there, not Robben obligingly falling after contact with it

http://www.cbssports.com/world-cup/eye-on-world-cup/24601118/arjen-robben-penalty-controversy-vs-mexico-helps-dutch-advance

I'm not sure if this is really Robben's tweet, but if it is, then damn...

Arjen Robben: 'In the first half I made a dive. That was a stupid action, I should not have done it.' (via NOS)

I watched the comments after the match and I did not hear him say that (nor is it his tweet). I think the consensus was, by the players and the coach, that at least 1 of the 3 relatively minor fouls made against Robben was worth a penalty kick.

I can't read dutch, you should check it out - the interview was supposedly given to nos.nl : I can just get it second hand : http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/arjen-robben-issues-public-apology-for-diving-during-the-first-half-v-mexico/

If you read the whole story you would see that he is talking about another incident in the first half, not the one that could have been awarded a penalty kick. Not really big news, he was out for a penalty kick a couple of times. He is not alone in this...

I wasn't intimating that he was talking about either important incident, sorry I made it sound that way. Saying this out loud though might make it hard for him to get legitimate penalties in the future though.

Now Costa Rica-Greece!!!! This might go extra time too! Nuts. With Costa Rica at ten men, but if they make penalties ... .

By the end, Costa Rica - Greece reminded me of one of those war movies where the outnumbered side has to hold the fort until dawn against hopeless odds. By the end, those guys were so dead tired they almost couldn't walk. Not the most scintillating display of technique, but what a battle. I was pulling for CRC due to the CONCACAF link, but kind of feel sorry either side has to lose (although Greece has no one to blame but themselves after that much time with a man advantage).

Robben might be a player with a bit of a balance problem, but right now he's up there with the best at this world cup.
