I agree this is a good start. I'd keep raiding and expense the entire dutch fleet and much of the allied minor. I typically use POW and R until and unless they die as very powerful counterpulse tools. Are they still alive? SOOO many good places to hide a fleet and counterpulse.

Prince of Wales - I would like to use her more, but part of me doesn't as she has a significant AA platform. She will probably end up with the two American BCs that are with the American CVs and become part of a SC TF leading my CVs. Thus, any Japanese SC TF that comes after my CVs 'should' need to go through 3 BC and many DDs. Add in, that this SC TF will attract torpedoes vs my CVs.

Right now, KB4 (3 CVLs) are to east of Malaya while KB3 (Soryu, Hiryu, CVL) are east of Philippines. His CAs are probably back at CRB reloading.

Not to steal space in Jocke's AAR, but in RA and now in BTS, the Americans have dedicated training groups in USA (3 Army, 3 Navy, 2 Marine). I spent PPs on first day to get good leaders and in less than week their morale is already at 99 and training has begun. With these type groups, you can fill to 3x the number. So my size 36 groups have 108 pilots. Add in the ability to spend PPs on airframes throughout the war and the air war may turn out to be more bloody.

What kind of planes can you "buy"? P47s? P38s? And how much do you have to pay for them?

Texans, Martlets and Fulmars. Maybe the Wirraway, although that might effect game balance.

I get my first airframes on 15th and they come in mid-month for many months, but the cost varies.

April 15th: (screenshot)
The 10 B-24s cost 220 PP.
The 12 B-25s cost 160 PP.
The 12 P-40Bs cost 90 PP.

May 15th:
The 16 P-38Es cost 160 PP.

So you can buy some of the older airframes cheaper.

Wow. The P-38s are an instant buy. Wouldn´t hesitate a second to buy them. Thats a bargain!

Does the PP cost stay roughly the same? I mean in -44 12-16 planes will be a drop in the ocean!

Wow! Too neat, but it may be on the inexpensive side. It costs Japan 270 points to switch lb to fb for example, plus the cost of the planes in supplies.

You guys have really created something special.

JuanG came up with the using PPs to buy airframes. I don't think he was able to crank up the cost, but you don't get the same number every month. Some months later in 42 the choices are more limited than my example.

Ah, so numbers are increased later in the war? That would make sense.

Numbers stay the same.

I just looked it up, but 20 P47D2 cost 200 PP in April '43, down to 190 in May, but you don't get any more until Sept '43 for 180 PP. None after for rest of '43.

I think there is a thread in Mod Section on how JuanG came up with the number of airframes and cost.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3532557

Or you can go to RA website, download the mod, and look at it all.

Michael is a fellow creator of these three Mods so he is TERRIBLY biased!

Seriously though, the three Mods--I think--are a major evolutionary step forward in Modding. Treaty Mod is a slightly different ALTNAV, RA is strong ALTNAV, and Between the Storms is the combination of the prior two. Through great synergy, we have managed to place the latest DaBabes, a new OOB of the Phil--New Zealand--Aussie--DEI troops, Extended Map, Stacking Limits, gnarly roads (to slow things down in CBI), added Allied Training Air Groups, and placed a new off-map Allied aircraft purchase system all into this product. You want choice AND realism? Here---it---is!

I cannot wait to play Cribtop in Between the Storms. It will be fin and VERY BLOODY!

Date: 41 Dec 14th - Hong Kong and Wake mainly today

Key: TT = Torpedo; bb = ground bombardment; c = casualties; b = base hits; s = supply hits; r = runway hits; p = port hits; f = fuel hits; AV = Assault Value; DC = Depth Charged; (*) = destroyed aircraft; If odds are italics, they are the Allies; BG = Bomber Group of 48 planes (4 x 12 bomber squadrons); FG fighter group = 25 fighter planes if American

Landings:
None, but transport are at Wake probably to allow a complete day to unload before shock attack.

CVs:
KB1 - 5 SW Wake Is. at 133,102
KB2 - 5 SW Wake Is. at 133,102 - with KB1
KB3 - Babeldoab

China:

Nanchang - 10 Nates with 8 Sonia go after my little construction rgt to SE
Hwainan - 1 NE sees 18 Nate & 9 Ann
Tsiaotso -
Ichang - 3 Corps shock attack and take the base easily.

Malaya:
Temuloh -

Philippines:
Manila -
Clark -

SRA:

New Guinea/Solomons:

Central Pacific:
Wake - 15 Betty followed by 101 Zeros escorting in 116 Kate

South Pacific:

North Pacific:

Engineers:

Intel:

Notes/Plans:
Malaya - My recon shows (see screen shot) that Cribtop has 31 LCU at Kuantan and seems to be satisfied with slow march inland. Meanwhile, KB4 is north of Singkawang. Since she is close enough to Batavia and Oosthaven, my last two partially fuel laden transports leave those ports and head into Indian Ocean.

Where's Waldo?!?

A week into the war and some "Free Troops" are still at bay.

Still MIA:
4 Ind Mixed Rgt (starts in Vietnam)
21 Ind Mixed Rgt (starts in Vietnam)
65 Bde (starts in Formosa)
Gds Mixed Bde (starts in Japan)

Imp Gds Div (starts in Thailand)
2 ID (starts in Japan)
4 ID (Malaya)
5 ID (starts at Samah pre-loaded)
16 ID (Luzon)
18 ID (partial in Malaya)
21 ID (Malaya)
33 ID (starts in Nagasaki)
38 ID (Hong Kong)
48 ID (starts in Formosa)
55 ID (starts in Thailand)
56 ID (starts in Hiroshima)

1 Para Div (starts in Peleliu)
1 China Assault Div (starts in Tinian)
2 China Assault Div (starts in Etorofu)
1 Sasebo Assault Div (Guam)
1 Kure Assault Div (starts in Babeldoab)
1 Maizuru Assault Div (starts in Saipan)

For those unfamiliar with RA/BTS, an 'Assault Division' is basically three Naval Guards plus a little more artillery and support.

Last night, I told Cribtop that I was too tired to do turn (600 mile trip to and back from Nashville). In between multiple texts was him talking about the boldness of Nemo. He said plans were in motion and I would know in a few days. I said I had three options coming my way and would reveal if I was right later - Hawaii & Line Islands, Australia, and SoPac (Suva and Pago Pago with maybe push down to Society Islands). I'm ruling out Aleutians and Alaska as that does nothing right now.

I would rule out Hawaii. Someone did a lot of testing a while back throwing everything at PH. The CD guns at PH just wrecked anything trying to land. I think they got ashore but was so beat up they could never take the base.

Also katsuragi tried this in his game with aztez. Didn´t work very well.

I've done extensive testing on PH landings. It is a pyrrhic victory at best. The CD power is awesome, and forces you need to take the island are huge. better to quarantine the base by taking the outer lying islands if you are interested. Starve the base out. That certainly can be done (and quite honestly isn't too terribly hard if you retask some magic move TF's).

Hard to hide that amount of troops unless he is thinking to do the Chickenboy conquer China thing. That could fit. Other than that that could it be early entry to Oz?

Never followed a cribtop AAR so I don't really have a feel for his playstyle.

Meanwhile, CV Saratoga TF arrives at Dutch Harbor to refuel her escorts. Her airgroups were training, so no attacks were made. I will head NW from base and avoid this AMC. IMO, its not worth disclosing this TF for one AMC.

ALL Japanese carriers are now MIA!!

Key: TT = Torpedo; bb = ground bombardment; c = casualties; b = base hits; s = supply hits; r = runway hits; p = port hits; f = fuel hits; AV = Assault Value; DC = Depth Charged; (*) = destroyed aircraft; If odds are italics, they are the Allies; BG = Bomber Group of 48 planes (4 x 12 bomber squadrons); FG fighter group = 25 fighter planes if American

Landings:
Boela - elements of 1st Para/A drop on and take base

CVs:
KB1 & 2 - MIA day 3, but probably at Truk or just left
KB3 - MIA day 1
KB4 - MIA day 4
CVEs - MIA day 3

Subs:

India/Burma:
Victoria Point -
Moulmein - BF is ordered north while the last brigade for 1st Burma Div is ordered to Rangoon to rebuild it.
Pegu - 19 Sonia attack my battalion moved 1 east to act as tripwire. Its a good move as 8 LCUs are now spotted 1 west of Chiang Mai. Two groups from AVG are ordered to LRCAP this battalion next turn.

China:
Nanyang - 14 Nate & 9 Ann attack 2 SW of base
Hwainan -
Pengpu - A weak small corp is pushed off RR NE of base.

Malaya: -
Singapore - 5 Sally at night.
Temuloh -

Philippines:
Manila - Sturgeon & Skipjack leave port for full repairs at safer base. I had 6 fleet and 2 S-boats sunk from attacks here on 7th.
Clark -

SRA:
Force Z, CVL Charlotte, and American CA/CLs are ordered into the sraits between Borneo and Celebes as Japanese SC TF that was in Sula Sea has moved south.

New Guinea/Solomons:

Central Pacific:
Nauru -

South Pacific:
Mini Allied "Death Star" heads west and is two days out of Townsville (11 east of base).

North Pacific:
CV Saratoga TF is ordered to move to 2 due east of Attu.

CL Phoenix & Honolulu with 6 DDs to east of Dutch Harbor headed west.

Engineers:

Intel:
Elements of 65th Brigade landing at Aparri

Notes/Plans:
Central China - See screen shot. I have the powerful 22nd Army Group just to NW of Nanyang (38,500 of 40,000 SL) now in place to block road to Sian. Hopefully, I get time to get forts up past 1 which they are now. I'm trying to form a MLR about three to four hexes away from Sian. I finally see some forces from Cribtop moving here. Only token forces left at Chengchow and Loyang.

Northern China - Allied players know about the air groups that start at Hami. What to do with them?? I ensure that my garrison requirements are made, but take the BF at Urumchi and move it down to Ansi. I then move the groups down to Ansi and start to leapfrog the 2 BFs steadily south to Lanchow along with air groups. Hopefully, I can get them to Chungking area.

I have two air groups (18 P-40E) from Luzon at Kweilin. They withdraw on June 1st, but I hope them with one group from AVG can cause some trouble once I fill them out some more and get a little pilot training done. Objective is force Cribtop to devote a Zero group or two to China vs someplace else.

I cannot get over the morale impact of having those extra flat tops. Yu seem to be ready to setup a big CV ambush, though I must say that I would have taken the bird in the hand at in the Aleuts to send a message to the empire. Fleet in being only goes so far.

I really believe that with his segmented KB approach, you can get him in a massed attack and turn the war by February, probably in Solomon's or eastern DEI.

I am still confounded with China. Is China or Oz the main effort. I can't tell.
