ORIGINAL: Symon Hello Mike. Found an awesome (maybe) Jefferson 48 in Newport RI. Price is right, butt .. the nominal survey just knocks and pokes and isn’t worth squat, especially on a 1985 boat like this. Looked at her and didn’t see any real big grits, except for the engines. Glass is good. Bottom is good, Topsides are good. Might be some seepage, weepage, de-lam happening on 1st and 2nd bulkhead areas, to my mind. Sound bottom and well maintained through-hulls. She's begging to go down the cut and turn south and pass the ditch and become an utter South American lady. Maybe she can. Having a real (commercial boat) surveyor come up from New Orleans. Know the engines have to get a full rebuild, And likely some glass work. There’s a Belgian and an Italian also looking. Hope I have a bit of push on her, but one never knows. If it works, I’ll get it all done in Newport. Once (if) she’s done, we’ll mosey down the intercoastal. I have special stops planned on the way. I’ll take you and your sweetie, and the kids, on a special weekend tour of your special interface between land and ocean. Just make sure you and the kids have a good, solid, mask, and decent fins. Snorkel would be good, but I sometimes (often) wander down to see ‘stuff’. Here’s hoping. Good looking boat. Ciao. JWE Best of luck, John! Sara, Alex, and I would love to help you break her in a bit.
