So are you happy the IJN went "Manila First"?

That's how my game went, and I'm not sure it's worth it for the Japanese.  I only lost about 6 subs out of that affair.

It was quite effective in destroying subs. Many of those not destroyed on Dec 7 were so badly damaged they refused to put to sea or autodisbanded themselves in Manila when I tried to get them. The losses on Dec 10 reflect that. We still have 3 subs at Subic and Batangas barely afloat and 3 at Surabaja. Oddly, they have us bottled up on Luzon but there is no landing yet anywhere in the PI. Most of the unrestricted units have got out of Mindanao. We lost only 1 or 2 B-17's but quite a few P-40's trying to protect the damaged ships.

Strategically, the issue is undecided. It is nice to have lots of BB's to bombard things when we get around to that. Nice to have lots of PBY's as well. And, of course, wee have more B-17's early on.

You know, Lord Admiral, I'm disappointed in you.

Normally, this AAR is a paragon of virtue and a monolith in all things "After Action". Here you go and introduce a complete non-sequitor to the thread and derail the proceedings like that.

Now where were we? Ah yes, I remember now-fart jokes?

It's OK to OWN Nazi cattle but if you deny their existence then you are in big trouble.

10,500 years of breeding cattle to be more docile and the Nazis try to turn them into Aurax. About as useful as a King Tiger.

Ah..yes...the dreaded Audax...much worse than the Aurax...and nearly as bad as the Lorax

This is the SE end of Java. We mined it AFTER they went through the first time. That is oddly satisfying.

Actually its not oddly satisfying. It's just satisfying. A mine is a terrible thing to waste.

I think the text should read "4 mines cleared"

Rabaul: Lark Bn holds another day. The carriers lay off the SE end of New and Improved Ireland
(not really saying much) to say out of zero-escort range from Truk. The cobbler-kicking is somewhat disappointing.

Well..there goes the IJN.

Now they run into the Allied cruisers on the egress. Good fight. Might well have gone badly for us.

As for the cobbler-kicking at Rabaul...we missed the 4 CA's which would have been a fantastic prize but the garrison still holds out. It is possible the WJD CA's are south of New and Improved Britain, in which case we might still get them.

Are Dutch mines smaller? Normally 2 mine hits on a CA would leave a mark.
