Big disturbance in the force in China. 38K casualties?

There won't be any Chinamen left!

Ground combat at Chengchow (88,44)

If you keep defending open terrain just off of major IJA rail arteries, you'll be right. You really should pull out of *any* open Chinese terrain in the South and Southeast of China immediately.

ETA: Should have.

Are the Australian defensive asset classes likely to experience trend line asset inflation or is the defense of Brisbane an asset class bubble?

Any moves to bring the British 18th Div back from Darwin? They'd be useful north of Brisbane about now. Stay away from defending Rockhampton, the jap CA/BB's will nuke you in a clear hex. Bundaberg can also be easily bypassed by road.

Have you been stockpiling squads to upgrade the Aussie divisions yet? Fighters or bombers on the way from CONUS?

What about the Aussies that come in from Aden- to India, Australia or elsewhere?

Also, what about reinforcements to / from Perth? These can be transcontinentally (is that a word? Well, it is now) railed east to support the defenses there.

This is true. Hold Changsha and fall back to the woods.

Personally, in light of the recent Yellow Peril trend line, I would favor some serious Quantitative Easing...as fast as possible back toward Brisbane.

US help for Oz:

1) USN...well...not so much

2) 2 x 2/3rd strength P-39 squadrons. All the P-40 squadrons evacuated from the PI. USMC dive bomber squadrons (one still SBD-1, one just converted to SBD-3)
All the B-17's evacuated from the PI and all the unrestricted B-17 squadrons except the Hawaiian flagged squadrons. 3 x B-26 squdrons. 2 x Wildcat squadrons.
1 1/2 squadrons of A-24's

3) One regiment of infantry coming from New Zealand.

I tend to agree about Br 18 Div. At this point the Shinto-boys have nearly 2 division equivalents of infantry ashore in Oz. They can do some serious damage where they are and less damage at Darwin. This appears not to be a feint.

Hmmmm. Pretend I didn't read the manual

Still 33 days from arrival.

It seems we may have been stockpiling Australian squads without even trying? I wonder if we can sell those Papuan squads?

Where were we? Ah, yes. War materiel. Well, perhaps we can trade those bloody sound detectors for some 25 Lb guns? At this point I think we should tell Mr. Churchill to stuff his North African campaign and send us our boys.

I saw that list and thought it said Carrier Set (3), with 19 in pool. I thought wow, that would be useful, I'd take a few sets of 3 carriers!

I noticed that one as well, but took the Sect to be short for Section. So I now assume these are the Anthrax infested kangaroos and drunken feral pigs that will be unleashed upon the unsuspecting Japanese. Or maybe they just used some gastrointestinal bug like the "Australian Quick March" virus to avoid any war crimes issues later.

*************Sunday Morning Services, Wake Is.*************

<the tent is empty save for two souls>

Father Emmanoulides: Where is everyone, Mike?

Ecclesiastical Mate First Class Gabriel: They all left for Midway and Palmyra, Padre.

Father Emmanoulides: Why didn't they take us?

Ecclesiastical Mate First Class Gabriel: Something about orders from Chaplain Corps HQ to "fight to the last man"

Father Emmanoulides: But I'm a pacifist.

Ecclesiastical Mate First Class Gabriel: Yeah, that's what I said, Padre.

Father Emmanoulides: Well, I suppose it's the Lord's will. Would you like to hear the sermon I prepared?

Ecclesiastical Mate First Class Gabriel: What's it on, Padre?

Father Emmanoulides: Sacrifice for Jesus.

Ecclesiastical Mate First Class Gabriel: Ummmmm...not right now, Padre.

What time do we get up for the memorial services for those poor defenders? In other words, when do we wake for the Wake wake?

Hmm... might be bad for morale to already have a ship built, and named in memory of the defenders, when they are still there...
