What has happened to the Greek team?

I don't know, but I assume from that comment they are in trouble? If so they are not exactly alone - look at Holland!!

I say that Holland is in trouble and Greece are done. And Greece where the top seeded team in the group and they lost to the Faroe Islands.

Did you see that flare hitting the Russian goalkeeper in the beginning of the match versus Montenegro?

I was surprised they let the game continue for a while despite that. And I was stunned when I heard that Platini personally ordered the match to continue. It was later abandoned when even more stuff was thrown at the Russian players.

Edit: Would be nice if someone could confirm that Platini was involved in this.

Someone IS going to get killed soon - this is getting quite ridiculous. Its all going off in the Balkans again.... Serbia, Albania and now Montenegro

There are stupidity in ice hockey as well. Take a look at this assault before the match has even begun...

The football season begun with a win.

What the %&#% happened?!

But who am I to complain when they (we) win the season opening for the first time ever (or so it feels anyway).

Well its nice to get off to a winning start.

Sadly Tottenham are a total shambles of a team

Levy (Spurs chairman) needs to back Pocchetino in the summer or its going to be really difficult next season. You should have seen the Paulinho miss on Sunday (don't know if its available on you tube but should be - it is beyond embarrassing.....).

We need a major clear out - Kaboul, Capoue, Paulinho, Adebayor, Chirches hopefully will be on their way.

Personally I would be pleased to get rid of Chadli, Soldado, Fazio and Lamela too.

The jury is out on Stambouli, Townsend and Davies.

Of the rest I would like to keep Lloris of course but surely he will go to a sensible club.

What a piggin' mess....

Typical - for the second season running Arsenal get a Championship team in the FA Cup Semi-Final (conveniently ignores Spurs drawing ahem.. Sheffield United in the League Cup semi).

Let's just hope that Aston Villa can spring two surprises and beat Liverpool in their semi and then Arsenal in the final. Would be nice to see Villa win the FA Cup once more. When I was a kid they held the record for the most win - 7.

However that record has long since vanished and apart from one Cup Final appearance (they lost) in 2000, Aston Villa have done nothing since 1957!! when they beat Manchester United.

Come on Villa!

First part accomplished

Now just the not insignificant matter of trying to beat Arsenal

As a purist - no its awful news.

As a realist, if it get the stadium built at some point in my lifetime then its just something to live with.

Last day of the Football League Season today (play-offs to come).

Let's hope Preston North End can make it back into the second-tier of English football.

Cool.

When I played football manager games I usually managed Portsmouth or Plymouth.

Good luck in the play-offs to:

- Brentford
- Preston North End or Sheffield United (either would be good)
- Plymouth Argyle
- Grimsby Town

Mixed bag...

- Brentford lost 2-1 at home in the semi-final first leg
- Preston are through to the final but the Blades are 2-1 down after their semi-final first leg
- Plymouth lost at home 3-2 in their semi-final first leg
- Grimsby Town are through to the final

Feeling sad.
Captain Fantastic will play no more games at Anfield as a Liverpool player.
One of the "great generation" of English footballers for sure, and a player that has in many ways become the club. Add his loyalty to the club, and all I can do is

End of an era. I think he made the right decision - or better still should have gone last year. I can understand why he didn't what with the Champions League return, but let's be honest he has been nowhere near his best this season and in some games has been a bit of a liability.

Great player for Liverpool FC and England.

Oh yeah, he is past his prime (has been for three seasons imo), yet, as you say, end of an era.

Well this is not going well.....

Grimsby Town lose the Conference Play-Off Final on penalties .

Congratulations to Bristol Rovers on their return to the football league.

Better luck next year Grimsby Town and Torquay United.

Torquay United.

That is the team I used to play as when I played CM/FM and was done playing LIverpool.
All due to John Cleese and Fawlty Towers ofc

That has to be one of the best - and certainly the most original reason for supporting a team!

End of the footie season.... I hate the end of the footie season . No World Cup or European Cup as a time filler either....

Still there is one consolation; the team I support and those I have an interest in - at least they won't let me down every flipping week over the summer - well except in the transfer market of course

Only one winner out of 4 in the play-offs sadly. Well done to the Invincibles:

Preston North End Good luck in the Championship next year.
