Just discovered "Arven" on Spotify :)

Adding to my collection of European and Scandinavian Symphonic Metal bands with classically trained female vocalists. This one is almost an all-girl band (token male drummer). My Sansa music player gets a near constant workout playing around the clock and it's virtually all symphonic metal... I got hooked bad I turn on the radio and the current "hot tracks" bore me quickly and I go back to my recorded music.

So thankful for Sony Sound Forge and YouTube Downloader.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTVZfDnwucM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30LjI-SFZGs

And just discovered a new one that popped up on YouTube... this group is called Lyriel and is another German Symphonic Metal band (includes a cellist in the lineup).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFiNDuoyQVk

Just shows that you are never too old to move in new directions! Anyone have any recommendations to share in this genre?

Another new discovery, though in a different vein entirely. The group is called Tuatha Dea and is Pagan Rock, I guess, lots of drums with a lot of exotic instruments plus your basic guitars (accoustic and electric). Some tremendous female vocalists too.

I connected via the Tor SciFi newsletter. It seems the group connected with an author, Alex Bledsoe, expressed their love for his Tufa trilogy (http://www.amazon.com/Alex-Bledsoe/e/B0028OGIF2/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_0) and asked him for permission to use the book for lyrics for some songs. He agreed and the result is absolutely amazing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R8HJYUXw4A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_GKPFIHqY8

There is a 3rd song but no Official Video yet and the live cuts on YouTube are very unpolished so I'm not adding them. The group is one of 10 finalists in the Hard Rock Cafe's 2015 world competition for best new band.

Seriously, this is one you have to watch! It is unbelievably awesome.

Howdy,

I've been listening to a lot of Hall & Oates this week. I can't get the song 'Everything Your Heart Desires' out of my head.

Trying to listen to it at the moment. It's over an hour long. Any stand out bits and their timing you can point me to?

EDIT: Ahh.... I hear Cafe Del Mar!

Shunwick - I am confused. That piece of music sounds like Requiem For a Tower - a piece I have by Escala. The You Tube clip calls it Requiem For a Dream.

Any idea why they have two different names?

This quote from Wikipedia probably explains things better than I can...

quote:

"Lux Aeterna" (pronounced [lʊks ɛtɛrna]; Latin for "eternal light") is a composition by Clint Mansell, the leitmotif of a movie from 2000, Requiem for a Dream, and the penultimate piece in the Requiem for a Dream score. The popularity of this piece led to its use in popular culture outside the film, most notably in film and teaser trailers, such as Sunshine, and multiple remixes and remakes by other producers. It was also used in the Top Gear: Polar Special episode.

A version of the track was re-orchestrated with a choir and full orchestra for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers trailer. It was arranged by Simone Benyacar, Daniel Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson.

The orchestrated version was made available as part of the Requiem for a Tower album release from Corner Stone Cues

This is a quote from fimucite (which is a music festival held in Tenerife) ...

quote:

You will be able to enjoy "Lux Aeterna" in minute 8:30, as another piece of the "Requiem for a Dream" soundtrack´s selection our guest composer Clint Mansell performed with his ensemble in our festival in 2009. Have a nice day!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuFj8EsJJ8I

And not to be confused with Mozart's Lux Aeterna which is part of the Requiem Mass...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMzGQp8z2kM

Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine:
Cum Sanctus tuis in aeternum: quia pius es.

Requiem aeternam dona eis. Domine: et lux
perpetua luceat eis. Cum Sanctis tuis in
aeternum: quia pius es.

Best wishes,
Steve
