There is no PBEM implemented yet. The only way to play multiplayer is the Barbarossa scenario using the built in NetPlay feature. However NetPlay is being actively worked on but it will likely be a few months before it works for Global War.

Most people playing MP (like me) are using TeamViewer and something like Skype to communicate. This works really well. Plus you can have as many people as you can get to play Of course, just like the board game, everyone has to be online at the same time. NetPlay will work the same way.

But PBEM is way down on the list to implement simply because of the number of interactions that can occur in a round. So if you want to play using email, then you may as well pass for now.

There are AARs in this forum, but nothing I am aware of outside of here.

There is a long time active email list. Originally started back in 1995 and still going strong.

wifdiscussion@yahoogroups.com

Mind you, the attitude towards this digital version of the game is not always positive there. But you will get enourmous amounts of information about how the game is played. Especially if you dig into the archives and read the last 5 years or so of material. There negative attitude stems mostly from the fact that they can actually play the cardboard version, while many of us cannot. They also like using a Vassal module to play the game, but that doesn't enforce the rules like MatrixWif does.

There are many AARs hidden in the emails over the years that I have greatly enjoyed reading.

There is also a small group over on BoardGameGeek that discusses this game and some AARs are posted there which I am quite enjoying following. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1499/world-flames

Here's an AAR from there: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1280785/abq-flames-so39 You'll have to find all the following posts of the later turns. This AAR is currently in M/A '41

Welcome ifailmore,

Although there isn't an official PBEM, please see the AAR's from Warspite1 vs Orm and Mayhemizer vs myself. These are all games being played by E-mail.

They are played using solitaire mode and E-mailing saved games between each other. Mayhemizer and myself have found G-mail to be very efficient for this. It's a bit of a compromise as it works best if both of you can be online together during combat phases (particularly air and naval) due to the interaction required but isn't crucial. It merely takes longer to resolve the particular phases of play. It does require some mutual trust regarding die rolls (ultimately, if winning at all costs is your goal, stick to solitaire as that way you can't lose) but there are online die roll websites that E-mail the results to interested parties if this was an issue. A recent post on the forum provides links to these.

Mayhemizer and myself choose to conduct much of the in play interaction via an AAR. It's no quicker or slower than private E-mails and has the advantage that the AAR pretty much writes itself as you go. Otherwise, there is a time commitment to separately doing AAR's but I welcome those that do as I find them fascinating to read how different people approach the game and the strategies they use.

Hope this helps for you

Best WWII grand strategy game ever, recommended that you give it a try even solitaire at first. You will have blast learning it.
