Betio Island, November 20th - November 23rd 1943
On November 20th 1943 the US 2nd Marine Division launched the first amphibious assault against a contested beach. The object was the tiny island of Betio in the Tarawa atoll held by elite troops of the Japanese Special Naval Landing Force.
In one of the most brutal battles of World War II the fighting on the island fortress lasted for four days and left 6000 men dead.
The battle was forever remembered as 'Bloody Tarawa'.

Iwo Jima, February 19th - March 26th 1945.
The goal of Operation Detachment was to capture the two working airfields and an additional under construction to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese main islands.
This battle comprised some of the fiercest and bloodiest fighting in the Pacific.
After the heavy losses incurred in the battle, the strategic value of the island became controversial as it was useless both for the US Army as a staging base and the US Navy as a fleet base.

WOW, I was just kidding about having these ready "the first of next week".

Awesome work on getting these scenarios converted to single player.

I'm off to take a look and test them.

Thanks for the great work.

I put the folders in the Scenario directory but they do not show up in the game single player choice menu.

Are they LOCKED?

Thanks

NEVERMIND

The DUMMY just figured it out and found the My Games Folder.

Thanks

I just tried Betio scenario. I made my first turn and accomplished some progress. As soon as I hit end turn I received a Defeat message and the scenario ended. Is this a 'bug'?

Is the player to accomplish ALL the primary objectives on the first turn?

I'm going to try it again, but thought I would report in and ask a couple of questions now in case it is some simple "setting" in the editor that will correct the problem, if it is indeed a problem. Again, not sure if I failed or the scenario ended incorrectly.

Thanks.

UPDATE REPORT: Ok, I took one of the primary objectives and then the scenario rolled over into turn 2. So I guess you MUST take at least one primary or you do get an instant defeat.

NOTE TO DEVELOPERS: The AI took almost 10 minutes to process the second turn on this Betio Scenario. Now I do not know if this is a matter of the programming or the way the scenario is set up, or both, but I thought I should report it. Perhaps this is already being addressed in the upcoming patch.

Thanks.

By the way, the Betio scenario looks fantastic. Wonderful job on this.

As long as I am here I'll go ahead and press my luck and request/suggest that you do some Iron Bottom Sound battles: Salvo Island, Cape Esperance and so forth. Some Pure Naval battles.

The job you did on Betio really makes me want to see MORE AND MORE AND MORE... LOL

Looking at the map, that looks like a hell of a lot of AI units! It also depends on whether they are all part of the same team (slow) or split up in several groups (faster). If using different teams, it also depends on what tasks they are on. Ideally only a limited number of AI units/teams are set to aggressive/active tasks at the same time, so it depends on the scenario setup. If all these units are throw into a single team with a "Seek & Destroy" task I can imagine the AI calculation will be very slow

There are quite a few pure naval scenarios in multiplayer, but converting them to single-player is more work than land battles.
Due to the hide & seek nature you really want to have alternate positions for the AI ships. I haven't looked at how this is accomplished yet, but Lukas has done this in several of the stock scenarios.

Update, just when I am right in your Betio Island scenario that I really enjoy.
How historically accurate are actually your two scenarios?

The maps and OOB are based on various official USMC books whenever I can find one.
So if you see a specific unit name it should be correct.

The Betio scenario is really good! Trying to keep everyone in supply is stressing. Yesterday your two mod scenarios would quit as soon as the Japanese completed their initial move, but this morning I re-downloaded them and they work fine. Details on the Tech help thread.

Betio is one of the best scenarios I've ever played regardless of the game in question.

Now I'm going to try Iwo Jima and will report back.

Report it in the support area like the official scenarios.
If you find any scenario design issue, report it here.

Hey Erik,

I finally finished playing your 'Iwo Jima' scenario.

I didn't 'Win' the first time around.

I just wanted to let you know you did an excellent job recreating this battle.

It took me a few weeks to complete as the demands of the scenario overwhelmed my old computer so I had to buy a new gaming PC.

I'm still working on my 'Guam' map /scenario and still have not had a chance to try out your 'Guam' scenario yet.

'Thanks for posting these 'Scenarios' with your scenario design you extend the playability of this game for years to come.

Thanks for the feedback.

When I started beta-testing this game about a year ago I used an old laptop and an early MacPro running WIn.
After a few weeks of testing I bought a powerful gaming-PC , testimony to this fine game.

I am downloading the scenarios and New Britain campaigns to the folders identified in your instructions. I then launch the game and at the main screen, single player will not launch. I go back and delete all of the newly downloaded folders and files and then the game runs fine.

I am sure that I am missing something in my process.
