Thanks! But if I understood correctly the helicopter might be outside Command's scope? Better put it in the 'Will add if requested by a scenario designer' category and add later, if needed?

Yeah I thought there were more of them than five, I can't see how they'd work in Command either.

[ADDED GENERIC UNIT, DB v440]

ORIGINAL: emsoy

Would be great if you could try to dig up some info on the PRP-1 and SDR-02 systems. Need info on in-service date, general capabilities, the number of emitter locators per system, etc.

Thanks!

It would but I am not having much success.

For PRP-1, a.k.a Kopac:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kop%C3%A1%C4%8D_passive_sensor
Not much useful there, except that it left the Czech army in 1979 (I know, wrong db :) ). No word on when it left USSR.

http://www.manfred-bischoff.de/PRP-1_KOPAC.pdf
Brief, but gives the Czech entry date as 1963 and indicates that there are four emitter locator vans, three of one type and one of a different type (my German is a tad rusty and we did not cover correlation detection terminology in any detail in my high school German classes).

http://www.airpowerstudies.co.uk/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/aprvol5no2.pdf
Fairly long article, a lot about general capabilities of these systems.

"##Jiří Hofman, Jan Bauer: Tajemství radiotechnického pátrače Tamara [The Secret of Radiotechnical Sensor Tamara], 2003, ISBN 80-86645-02-9, in Czech language"
Haven't found it and would not understand a word if I did.

The more I think about it though the more I think the generic ELINT vehicle I asked for is probably good enough. I doubt even information on obsolete systems of this type from open sources would be accurate, and the things we do know (such as them mainly targeting TACAN and IFF rather than radars) do not seem to be in the scope of Command's SIGINT modeling at the moment.

Some questions for the experts out there:

- Did the NK SSG missile launch actually happen or was it just a propaganda stunt? If it did happen, what's the most up-to-date stats?

- Anyone got a photo of the new Derby ER variant?

- What is the current status on the DF-41 development / deployment?

Thanks!

Can't seem to dig up a photo of Derby ER, but it uses the same body as the Derby. Only differences are in seeker, motor, and software. Having the same body, all aircraft certified for the Derby can immediately carry the Derby ER (physically that is, not sure about software).

I'll go through some DF-21 stuff later that I've been meaning to read.

One addition that would be really useful...

Defender-class 25-foot boat

They built 800 (!) of these...they've been exported all around the world. They'll probably show up in places for the next 50 years. (Maybe classify the nationality as "Generic" rather than USCG?)

There are three sub-types. I have tried to track down as much technical information as I could. Fortunately, the Coast Guard, which uses them extensively, has quite a bit of information about them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defender-class_boat
http://www.safeboats.com/boats/full-cabin-25/
http://www.uscg.mil/datasheet/25rbs.asp
http://www.uscg.mil/INTERNATIONAL/25ft.asp

Defender-class boat (Class A)
Displacement: 2.7 ton
Length: 8.9 m (29 ft 2 in) (A Class) 9 m (29 ft 6 in) (B Class)
Beam: 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in)
Draught: 0.98 m (3 ft 3 in)
Propulsion: 2 × Honda 4-stroke outboard engines, 225 hp (168 kW) each

Complement: 4 crew, 6 passengers
Armament: 1-2 × M240B (A and B Class) 1 × M2HB, 2 × M240B (C Class) <-- one of the Wikipedia images shows the machine guns as being mounted on the bow and on the stern; on the C-class, in another image, the .50 appears to be mounted on the bow and the two .30 machine guns are mounted at the rear, one pointing port and one pointing starboard

---Wikipedia

And, according to the Coast Guard:

Physical Characteristics:

Length, molded: 25' 00"
Length Overall: (bow to taff rail) 27' 6"

GP-37 DGPS Receiver
RD-30 Remote Display (displays DGPS, Depth, Water temperature and Heading)
PG-1000 Flux Gate Compass Transducer
ARC Remote Control Searchlight

Boat Outfit:

2 Fire Extinguishers
1 Boat Hook
150 ft Anchor/Tow Rope
1 Anchor
6 - 25 ft. Mooring Lines
1 Bucket w/Lanyard
1 Manual Portable Bilge Pump
1 First Aid Kit
Boat Manuals

Defender-class Boat (Class B)
Similar to the Class A, but “it has a slightly longer cabin [length is 9 m. instead of 8.9 m for Class A], additional spotter windows aft, shock mitigating cabin seats, a smaller 105 gallon fuel tank, and various other minor changes. It is the most common of the three classes.”
Range: 150 miles at 35 knots

Defender-class Boat (Class C)
Same as Class B, except “an increased armament of one M2HB .50-caliber machine gun on a modified forward mount and two M240B machine guns on port and starboard mounts just aft of the cabin.” –Wikipedia

Thanks for considering this one.

[ALREADY ADDED DB v439]

I'd like to suggest the Sea Lance. It was meant to be a replacement for SUBROC and may've actually deployed had the Cold War continued into the 1990s. I've noticed you've added a few weapons from that area that never quite made it so this might be a good one. The nuclear version (there was a torpedo version too) was going to have a 200kt warhead!

Sadly, the only photo I've found was in Wikipedia in it's capsule. It was also apparently planned to be launched from VLS cells on surface ships.

[ADDED DB v440]

Hello. Here are two units I have noticed to be missing from the database:

HH-60W Pave Hawk

The HH-60W Pave Hawk is a replacement of all the current HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters in United States Air Force service. The HH-60W is designed to be a combat search and rescue helicopter variant of the UH-60M.

UH-72 Lakota

The UH-72 Lakota helicopter is missing from the DB3000 database. The UH-72 is designed to replace the UH-1H/V and OH-58A/C aircraft in the United States Army (National Guard and active duty). The first aircraft was delivered in 2006 to the US Army. As of May 14, 2014, over 300 aircraft have been made. The UH-72A is in service and will be upgraded to the UH-72B starting in 2017. As of 2015, Thailand is the only export customer, with 6 units ordered and another 9 requested. The UH-72 can carry 9 troops and has 1-2 pilots.

[NO INFORMATION ON OPERATIONAL STATUS OF CONV VERSION]

Both the SS-N-21a and SS-N-21b have a nuclear warhead. Shouldn't 1 of them have a 410 kg HE warhead?

[ADDED DB v440]

#1608 - MQ-1B Armed Predator UAV -- United States (Army), 2001-0, -
This predator can be armed with stingers, as seen in this video: /watch?v=tAneAliAG88 (can't post links yet, but that should be all you need to add on youtube, if not, just search "predator shoots at MiG-25").

I cannot find any photos of a predator armed with stingers, but I would guess that there is 1 per pylon, so 2 overall. So maybe the loadout would be 2x Stinger?

From Wikipedia:
MQ-1A Predator: Early airframes capable of carrying ordnance (AGM-114 Hellfire ATGM or AIM-92 Stinger). Nose-mounted AN/ZPQ-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar removed.

An Iraqi MiG-25 shot down a Predator performing reconnaissance over the no fly zone in Iraq on 23 December 2002. This was the first time in history a conventional aircraft and a drone had engaged each other in combat. Predators had been armed with AIM-92 Stinger air-to-air missiles, and were being used to "bait" Iraqi fighters, then run. In this incident, the Predator did not run, but instead fired one of its Stingers. The Stinger's heat-seeker became "distracted" by the MiG's missile and missed the MiG. The Predator was hit by the MiG's missile and destroyed.

[FIXED DB v440]

I still think some of the passive sonar signatures are not accurate. From what I've read and from prior posts the FREMM is built to be quiet including anti-vibration devices and electric drive. Yet it's acoustic signature remains relatively high. Especially considering the RKR Moskva is a much larger ship and (although only a guess but I'm almost sure is true) was not built with similar acoustic signature reduction techniques, and yet it's passive sonar signature is less that the FREMM. Thanks in for looking into this.

[PARTLY ADDED DB v440]

Hi again, just a short list of missing UK units. Most are already in-game with other countries.

RAF

Britten-Norman Islander, in service as 'Islander BN2T CC Mk2', used for photographic reconnaissance and light communications. Outfit unknown.

Super King Air B200 and B200T used as an advanced multi-engine trainer for student pilots.

(Short) Tucano T1 is a basic lead-in fast-jet training aircraft.

Agusta A109E used for VIP transport. Only one in service.

Griffin HAR2, based on the Bell 412EP and based in Cyprus for SAR roles.

Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm (aircraft)

Avenger T1, based on the Super King Air 300 military, is used for navigator training.

3x Scan Eagle, but I think I've mentioned it before.

Army Air Corps

Defender AL-2. Used C2, communications, reconnaissance and photographics roles. Equipped with DAS and an EO pod under the nose. Based on the Britten-Norman Defender 4000. One Defender T3 (trainer) also in use but it's probably not much use in CMANO.

Lynx AH9A. There is a Lynx AH9 in game however all of these were upgraded to AH9A standard. Uses the LHTEC CTS800-4N (1,362 shp) engines, the same as the Wildcat so that it had commonality with them.

There's also the Bell Griffin HT1 and Eurocopter AS350 Squirrel HT1 training aircraft that equip RAF/AAC squadrons but are contractor owned.

Royal Navy (ships)

P 257 Clyde (modified River Class batch 1 PB) is missing. This has been in service for a few years and patrols the Falklands. Has a 30mm DS30B and strengthened deck for flight operations, supporting the weight of a Merlin helicopter.

Forth class (River Class batch 2). 3x ships (Forth, Medway, Trent) similar to the Brazilian Amazonas class with Merlin-capable flight deck, 30mm DS30B, Kelvin Hughes SharpEye nav radar and Terma 4103 2D naval air & surface surveillance radar.

Army (land)
Warrior 40mm. The current Warriors are receiving an upgrade to the 40mm CTA from their 30mm Rardens. Includes new EO sights and comms.

And that's about it.

[ADDED DB v440]

specially for emsoy

Su-25SM with L-150 (aka Su-25SM2) use Kh-58U against target in 105km:
launch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9HblmwgC2s
Kh-58U hit target (0:23):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dap8dDMv568

So it seems Russian Su-25SM with L-150 not only capable but actually use Kh-58U ARM in training
So maybe ARM should be added to armament of Su-25 with L-150(Su-25SM2) and Su-25SM3

[UPDATED DB v440]

#769 - MQ-5B Hunter UAV -- United States (Army), 2005-0, -
This aircraft is now retired as of June 10th, according to some articles (can't post links, *** this matrix system)

#235 - EA-6B Prowler ICAP II Block 89A -- United States (Marine Corps), 2014-0, -
I'm assuming that this is the most recent version, but all EA-6Bs are retired now AFIAK.

Both articles can be found in Alert5 website, under "older entries"

both of them can use RPK-6 Vodopad from 533mm TT (in case of 1155.1 from 2x4 533mm TT, in case of 1144 from 2x5 533mm TT)

About USET-80 torpedo

there is no USET-80 torpedo on Soviet/Russian Navy surface ships , all of them use mix of 53-65K and SET-65 torpedoes
even for Talwars / 11356R this is 53-65KE/53-65K and SET-65SE/SET-65K

few citation:
"After extensive planning and testing torpedo UST-A "Tamga" under the name USET-80 entered service of the Soviet Navy. In 1980 after adopting in the practical shooting Navy
faced with a large number of misses in the Northern Fleet.
In the context of the Black Sea deep-water polygons Seeker
"Vodopad" achieve a desired response in the range of TTZ against
not evading submarines, but during testing in actual combat conditions,
including at shallow depths of the Northern Fleet, the results were unsatisfactory."

after that USET-80 send to rework and, citation:
"In 1988, on torpedo USET-80 was installed modified homing system "Keramica", the torpedo entered service under name USET-80K in 1989
on the torpedo mounted two-plane phase homing system "Keramica" with enhanced noise immunity from torpedo MPT-1, which is a copy of homing system US Mk-46 torpedo. In homing system "Keramica"(according to CNII "Gidropribor"), in contrast to the prototype, improved protection against means of sonar countermeasures."

but USET-80K came only for subs because, citation:
"Input data into a torpedo USET-80K is carried out not by mechanical spindle, but from electrical connection with the equipment ARVD-100 (missile unit data input)."

so ships that dont have ARVD-100 cant use USET-80K , and since there is no surface ships with ARVD-100 in 1989, Navy want mechanical input of data in USET-80K :

"In 1993 came USET-80KM - a variant of the torpedo USET-80K with mechanically ("spindle") input of data. Designed by CRI "Gidropribor" and OKB plant "Dagdizel."

but then Soviet Union fell , Russian Navy dont buy anything and all ships until now have only old 53-65K and SET-65S , then in 2007 came modernization of SET-65 with "Keramica" (SET-65K)

[WILL ADD ON REQUEST FROM SCEN DESIGNER / ALREADY THERE]

Since I saw that generic light/medium CATOBAR carriers were added to the database, I thoguht that perhaps it could be useful to have generic versions of other aircraft carriers as well, such as:
-heavy CATOBAR carrier (e.g. generic Kitty Hawk class)
-light/medium STOBAR carrier (e.g. generic Liaoning carrier)
-light/medium STOVL carrier (e.g generic Invincible class or generic QE class)
-light/medium LHA/LHD (e.g. generic America class or Wasp class)

In addition, I noticed there wasn't an entry for the Laser Weapon System, and since it has been sucessfully tested and is currently deployed on USS Ponce I thought it could make a good addition as a hypothetical CIWS system.
I can't post links but the Office of Navel Research, NAVSEA, and several other military news websites have articles about the LAWS (30kW solid state laser) and it's deployment on the USS Ponce (currently has shot down a ScanEagle UAV, destroyed several boats, and potentially has the accuracy to target individual people/weapons on a boat).

[UPDATED DB v440]

The passive signatures on the Russian Lada and Kilo Classes are virtually the same. I have multiple sources saying that the Lada has introduced new acoustic signature reduction technologies over previous generation subs, so I think it warrants a Passive signature reduction on #184 PL-677 Lada [Pr.1650]

naval-technology/com/projects/project-677-lada-class-project-1650-amur-class-submarines/

"The Project 677 submarine is an improved version of the Project 636 Kilo Class with much quieter, powerful propulsion and new combat systems."

"The hull is covered with a new anti-sonar coating for low acoustic signature."

globalsecurity/org/military/world/russia/677.htm

"acoustic field of the submarine has been considerably reduced (in comparison with submarines of previous generations - several times);"

military-today/com/navy/lada_class.htm

"The Lada class features a new anti-sonar coating for the hull resulting in low acoustic signature."

[UPDATED DB v440 / NEED MORE INFO]

The Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers have Aster 15 missile outfits on them as of patch 1.08. In reality they have no missiles fitted for defence and use the Phalanx for hard kill. The Royal Navy places a great reliance -for good reason- on soft kill measures.

Edit: Looks like this was posted as a reply to SASR, didn't mean to do that.

The RAF C-130J upgrade will be considered substantial enough for it to be named Hercules C6 (it is current C5). Nine have been fitted with external fuel tanks for extended range and are likely for special forces use.

The SS-N-21 was to be an extended range version that never really materialized. It should probably be deleted, so I renamed SS-N-21b to SSC-4 Slingshot which was the ground-launched version.

There is no information on the operational status of the conventional version either. The navigation system wasn't accurate enough it seems.

Both the SS-N-21a and SS-N-21b have a nuclear warhead. Shouldn't 1 of them have a 410 kg HE warhead?
