Think what goes Ormster?

The Champions final. Or the World Cup that begins in Canada. Take your pick.
warspite1

The Old Lady for the win.

Womens World Cup? No idea - Germans or the US?

Indeed. But since there has been orders issued that it must be pointed out that it is a tournament for Women I, of course, rebel.

Seems to be many contenders this year. Japan seems strong. France, England or Sweden might rise to the challenge if their teams remain intact. What about Brazil? And Canada?

None of the above, and definitely NOT England - US or Germany.

Meanwhile, looks like I am right about the Champions League. Barce have scored too early - definitely a win for the Old Lady now. So in other words, the Grand Old Lady predicts a win for the Old Lady

Half-Time: England 0-1 France

Got to say, England have been totally out-classed and it should be 2 or 3 for the French. The French goal came from a stupid mistake, and there have been loads of those. I suspect England will run out of steam in the second half and it could be embarrassing.

Hey! It's just like the men's version

But more importantly.... why are we playing in all white? Why are the French in all blue? Shouldn't there be a law against this or something.

Listen it's real simple England: White shirts, blue shorts, white socks
France: Blue shirts, white shorts, red socks.

Geez......

It was 0-1 in the end so business as usual for English football

Well done to the French - and Mme Bolleau in particular

France is one of the favourites to win the tournament and I suspect that the English focus always have been to win the two other matches in the group.

Iceland! They just won against Czech Republic with 2 - 1. Now they are close to qualify for the Euro 16.

Two draws. Not disasters by any means, but 3rd place is probably the best either can do now. But.... there's always hope for better

Under 21 Championships today and England vs Sweden. Sweden would be happy with a point after beating Italy and England desperately needing all three after losing to Portugal.

Looked like we were on our way out but a goal in the last 5 mins keeps the group very much open. Frankly I think we were lucky - our under 21's look like our senior team and our women; frankly just not good enough

England 1 - 0 Sweden

...anyways back to the football.

The England U-21 team showed they are every bit as overpaid, over-hyped and, frankly, every bit as useless as their elder compadres.

Can the English women break the mould or will the outcome be all too predictable? The usual pre-match quotes and hyperbole have already started; Canada are running scared, the pressure is all on Canada, we can go all the way, there is nothing to stop England winning the world cup blah blah blah. With headlines like that we all know there is only one possibility here..... Taxi for England

..... Lionesses you are not reading the script!!

We are supposed to be bigged up to win the tournament (despite the presence of much better teams still in) only to lose disappointingly at the quarter-final stage (if we get that far).

Anyway well done - perhaps normal service will be resumed against Japan in the semis.....

England 2-1 Canada

Thank-you.

No I'm sure she won't - these things happen. Remember Beckham was not hounded for any poor or unlucky play - Beckham was vilified because he cost us a match through petulantly kicking an Argentine player right in front of the referee and putting us down to 10-men.

Mourinho takes Falcao....

Well given the season he has endured at Manchester United, if Falcao resurrects his career at Chelsea that will be another feather in "The Special One's" cap. If not......

Interesting.

Well done to the Lionesses for finishing 3rd in the World Cup and.... actually beating Germany in the process!!

England beat Germany in a game of football... wow, there is something you don't write very often

Good luck to Japan and the USA tonight. May the best team win - and let's hope Team USA keep their clothes on....

One is reminded of Thatcher's comment after a soccer loss to Germany - "After all, we beat Germany twice at their national 'sport'". She was referring to WWI and WWII.

- I cannot imagine Lady Thatcher saying that! Here is Wiki on the subject:

Beaten the Germans twice at their national game in the 20th century?[edit]

What about the 1990 quote attributed to Mrs. Thatcher, who upon being told that Germany had defeated England at football, or soccer, (which they did, of course) had allegedly replied, "They may have beat us at our national game, but we beat them twice at their national game in the 20th century.? --Matthead 22:03, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
This quote originally appeared, in slightly different form, in an English newspaper on the morning of the 1966 World Cup Final. In this report it is attributed to Vincent Mulchrone of the Daily Mail.
The remark is repeated whenever there is a football match between England and Germany. It is doubtful Margaret Thatcher ever said it in public.

Good to see we are clearing out some of the dead wood and players who are no longer good enough

So far have dispensed with:

Capoue
Paulinho
Kaboul

Still more to go I hope - Soldado, Fazio, Stambouli, Adebayor.....

What do Liverpool fans think of the Sterling transfer saga?

He had to go, he did not want to stay, and he was not very loyal in the ways he communicated that.
And for all that money, we will buy a superb striker...
Or more likely, some utter rubbish
