The good news...we find the KB!

The bad news...they LYB's show up off Sydney and our crust of fighters is too thin.

I was trying to draw some of JJ's resources away from N&IC by bombarding JJ on the coast above Brisbane. It sort of worked.

N$IC: I wondered what would happen in a Kongo class vs 2 prewar USN BB's....this. Because of the surface thraat, all the troopships turned around but the BB's stay at Noumea.
No moonlight. Perfect for the IJN one would think although it would reduce the time to light off Rong Rances. In any event, USS Fox has a short night of it.

There is an opening to an episode where airliner parts fall from the sky. When I saw this I was pretty sure the writer had lived in LA in the late 80's. Then I discovered one of the main characters in the show has an unmistakable link to that same event.

Status: offline 		Kongo confirmed sunk on the basis of seaplane ground losses. Nice! New Mexico and Mississippi barely scratched. No fire. No flotation damage, just some topside scratches. JJ pays a penalty for hubris and for not attacking Pearl on Dec 7.

USN prewar BB's:

Slower than coproliths.....check

Crapy range (small fuel bunkers)......check

Torpedo magnets...........check

Weak AAA suite............check

Gas hogs..................check

Sunk Kongo................check

Status: offline 		KB has disappeared again...most likely N or NE of Brisbane where we have no recon but our recon West of Noumea is a bit patchy because all the PBY's at Noumea are shot up.
An AE is headed to Noumea tonight to rearm the BB's. Most likely, JJ will send the KB to try to overwhelm the fighters at Noumea. Something bad may likely happen to New Mexico and Mississippi but that is why we have more ships.


Noumea at 34% runway damage, Tanna at 70%, Norfolk almost level 2 with no damage.

Status: offline 		The real point is you can find a role for the USN prewar BB's other than bombardment duty. I'd say they have a 70% chance of becoming artificial reefs in the next two weeks.

Unless you got about 5 penetrating hits with the big guns, Kongo's demise was properly attributable to the magazine explosion from the sub's torpedoes! The BBs get an assist for crippling her first. The Japanese get an assist for cutting her loose on her own after the first couple of hits.

I had to do ALSP's command as he was apparently taking a pet to the vet. Fortunately, nothing bad happened to the RN. This cannot be expanded to all navies in the area.

Sydney: The runway damage was in the 40's so I moved some fighters to Port Kembla and got all the bombers out of Sydney...anticipating further attacks.
This proved brilliantly prescient. All these AKL's were tied up to the dock pretending to be a troop convoy.
