Hi
I was testing out the newest RC build and stumbled upon something odd.
Aircraft attacking each other and having radar turned on freeze in motion and their radar stops tracking target.

To reproduce the error simply let the attached scenario run for 10 seconds.

The attached scenario is set up like this;
2 sides hostile to each other.
One airplane to each side, both with their radar turned on and set to attack each other.

Nothing else has been altered.

Otherwise the v1.09 RC is lovely, great work!

It runs for about 10 second and then errors out with a non-recoverable error.

btw, in the 10 sec it runs, the planes start to move.

I can't take a screenshot on my surface. The errors are listed as 300002, 300009, 300000.

If I remove the Side 1's Mirage 2000 before start and replace it with a clone, it seems to function OK.

Weird, I don't get errors, every time I run it the planes simply freeze in their place and the little timer that shows how long its been since they last were detected keeps counting upwards.
I just tested this with other planes to see if something is wrong with the Mirages, it always happens for me as long as radars are turned on and it's 1 vs 1.

Do you run the latest build?
If yes try this:
Create new scenario with the latest database, add two sides hostile to each other.
Give them each a radar equipped fighter (I have tested Mirages, Typhoons, f-18, mig-31bm, and f-16a).
Place the fighters close to each other, but not inside missile range and turn on their radar.
Tell fighter 1 to attack fighter 2, and fighter 2 to attack fighter 1.
Start the game.

When I do this the fighters get closer and closer to each other and then they just freeze in their place and the timer that shows how long its been since they last were detected keeps counting.

Moving around the planes in the editor resets the timer, but unless I put the fighters inside missile range of each other they don't move.

Edit: placing planes outside weapons range but inside radar detection range freezes their movement for me, but placing the inside runs as normal.

Edit2: So now I tried it with F-8P Crusaders and the problem is still there, even with RO-radars. I also realised that the freeze also stops in-game time like fuel and day night cycle (but not the game clock).

Severe, would be great if you could upload a savegame for each situation to help verify the fix :)

Thanks again!

Sure, I've made five saves for you, I also tried making one and at the same time using the windows PSR (problem step recorder), but it did not show what I did in the pop-up windows inside Command and the text is in Swedish, Its attached as a zipped file inside the attached zip-file.

Its really hard to recreate with stealth aircraft since if the aircraft can use weapons on each other the freeze doesn't happen. They have to detect each other but NOT be inside weapons range.

Anything specific (a certain aircraft or database) you wan't me to try?

I have tried all five files and get the same error message on start. If I rebuild it myself in the same location with the exact same units...no crash and it functions as it should.

Could you send a save to me thewood1? I'm interested to see if it crashes on my computer. If it does I guess you could call it a "severe crash" (TM)

I didn't save any of them. I'll rebuild my last one and post it later.

Can I ask what the error was. It wasn't showing up when I created the scenario.

There was a missing Null check on CurrentMission in the updated DetermineInterceptAltitude function

I just tried the scenario thewood1 posted in the old build [B742] and it crashes for me.

But when I installed the latest build [B743] everything works and I'm unable to reproduce the error, so I can confirm it's been fixed.

Good work, I'm really impressed with how fast you guys solve problems!
