Thankyou guys for the comments, quite overwhelming
OK
I started this exactly 8 years ago
First model I have ever attempted, so I learnt a lot! (and there were a lot of mistakes!)

Ply wood frames, balsa strips , sanded, bogged, sanded, fiberglass, flow coat, and weeks and weeks of sanding by hand

I followed a rough rule of building everything in the structure with styrene, from scratch
As a learning thing, the ammo boxes were moulded

She is 12 feet long approximately, but unfortunately 3 inches too long for scale accuracy, a mistake from converting the
1/100 scale plans to 1/72, but you live and learn
The gun directors move individually, and main armament follows them
4 motors, 4 motorbike batteries, 2 individual radio control systems...

and 120 KG of removable ballast

Again, thanks for the comments, both here and in the AAR, you guys really are the
friendliest people ever

For any Aussies, in Sydney, weather permitting, she debuts at Hubertus Country club
September 5th
Its a great club, come and share a sausage!

We would very much welcome pictures/video of her launch and commissioning.

I agree, you HAVE to have this recorded. Surely the local news outlet would have a crew on hand, this is far beyond merely 'impressive'.

Well you did a great job on it, any plan for next model? We would be very interesting to see it. But if it take years to do, most of us may not make it lol.

Keep up the good work!

Wow, that is truly impressive, gobsmacked. Absolutely love it. Definitely want pictures/video of its commissioning.

The top decking, are each of those wooden beams, individual?!

Also, needs lego sailors!

Late to this party.

Will add my humble kudos for a job VERY well done.

Nothing quite like a man with a mission!

Don't want to steel any thunder here, but some guy has a similar passion for rail guns......an American by the name of Peter Shaw built this 1/6th Dora.

Just about the same length as your Yamato.

Me too. I made the mistake of showing my wife the Yamato pics, and told her I wanted to do that when I retire... now I think she will make sure I keep working until I'm 100

Hi

planks individual
I am actually not very happy with them, the strips were inconsistent in width
as the original supplier of the timber ran out

grrrr

I work 5 am to 6 pm days, even later!
So really it was 8 years of weekends and Christmas breaks

But she kept me sane.........

Kirishima will be better, as I know what not to do now!

Looks good, well done. But looking at post #45 those are some pretty big "trees" and rocks in the background compared to the size of the Yamato. Maybe just a little bit more ballast up forward.

That look really good in the water, wondering if there was any locals nearby spotted that thing and making comments about it. Some probably take pictures of it as well video.

The speedboat Yamato!!

Honestly, 1275psi, I cannot help but marvel at your creation each time I see it. I Can only imagine the hardwork, the patience, and above all, the skill that goes into making such an incredible model.
