I found this unregarded, but nice naval game: NWS RtW- Rule The Waves - Information And Downloads

It seems to be well thought out.
Perhaps we have found a hidden gem in this?

The Historical Gamer is doing a LP of this on youtube, shows you alot more of the game, and it looks really nice.

About the graphics, you might be disappointed or shocked about this Win 3.11 design, but the graphics do the job very well!

Definitely interesting! Love the whole ship design aspects.

Windows 3.11 brings back fond memories... my most stable computer setup ever... could run for months without needing to reboot. My software product was developed under Windows 3.11 and I ran my corporation with it.

Will this run under Windows 10? What kind of emulator is required etc etc???

Excellent Review... lists this as "an essential game to own for 2015"

No info on compatibility though.

It's a surprisingly fun game. Don't let the rudimentary graphics discourage you.

Note
This is not documented in the manual:

1. To change course it's more convenient to use control + left click.
2. And sometimes double click work to activate some function/screens in the game.
3. You can draw a box on an area to zoom.
4. Hoover the pointer over enemy ships - you'll see information then.
5. Right click on enemy ships open the vessel window.

Same here. It's completely obliterated all the time I used to spend playing CMANO. It's a very "resource-lite" game, I'd imagine it'll run great on anything.

Baloogan does some nice youtube videos on RTW. Some of this stuff helps you learn a bit about the game. In addition he does some really helpful stuff on Command MA/NO

Its a good game.
One of those that I wish had come to Matrix first. To polish it up a little.

It doesn't actually need it. Its fine as it is. But it could look a lot more 'post millennium.'

Wasn't this tossed around for free a few years back ? I seem to recall getting a sort of pre beta copy of it years ago and I doubt I paid for it.

Same -- I've played through 5 complete campaigns, and started a 6th one last week. Great game, huge time sink -- and I usually don't even like naval games.

As a note -- there are two separate manuals -- one for the operational game, and one for the tactical game. You should read both. The game is well designed and intuitive once you grasp the basic concepts.

funny thing for me is i never cared much for pre-missile age naval ships my whole life, but the way this game is designed it definitely got me interested

also as a testament to how easy this game is to play i'v likely got 20+ hours on this game but i still havn't read the manual. might get to that one day, but i'd rather just spend that time just playing the game lol

This video is interesting, showing ships in simulation Japan vs. Germany. Noticed the player/user was getting too close with his destroyers and already in Cross the "T". Anyway it is interesting simulation I like it, but I didn't care for WWI era. Very much like to see this setup as WWII era though and hopefully better graphics as well.

Just received my copy today and have started into it. It really is a lot of fun. Starting out small as IJN. My next game will probably be as US, once I get the hang of things.

If you are interested in naval warfare of this era, 1900 through WW1, this is a great game. The value in the game is in how it works and not so much in how it looks.

If you need eye-candy this is not it, but it does get you deeply into designing and fighting ships, in the political tensions and rapidly developing technology of the time.

The game gives you varied opportunities to manage and fight the great navies of the world with large budgets, or maybe more interesting, is to choose a smaller nation and manage with a lot less technology and budget.

It is not often that you can create designs strategically, then get the chance to prove them in action.

I've bought this earlier in the week and have about 4-5 hours of play time into it so far, it's a good value in my opinion as I'm sure I will be spending more time with it.

Watching videos of it being played showed (to me at least) its play value. If have an interest, watch the videos people have linked, it's all there.
