Jeff cuts the rail between Calcutta and sothern part of India. Everything got out short of a Indian BDE and some battered BFs and battalions from Burma. They will now hide in the mountains while we prepare the counter attack.

I hope you mean "Game map south of Calcutta", otherwise you are in deep doo doo!

Not sure I understand what you mean but he cut the rail between Dimapur and Calcutta.

IRL, Thats Nth East India (Assam), on the game map its south because the map is skewed about 90 degrees in that area.

If he was south of Calcutta he would be near Madras/Vingzanpatnam.

Too bad about Alliford Bay, but I-7 is a nice consolation prize - Glen carrier, 14,000 nm range, 11 VPs.

Oooh. That is even better. Thought it was just 8 VPs.

That is precisely the point!

Got pretty fed up with the 50:1 results me an Erik was getting all the time.

Did I mention I´m struggling with recon here? Indian 9th ID gets ready to move into Calcutta. Its a good ID rebuilt from scratch with 50 EXP. Not completely filled out yet but almost 300 AV they will do good in defense.

A good couple of days.

------------------------
NORPAC
------------------------

Jeff loses over 50 planes here for NO strategic points over the last 3 days. He does sink 3 ACMs I had a Seattle together with two AMcs for a total of 11 VPs. We tried a big sweep with almost 100 Fighters at Anette Island hoping to catch some LRCAP from Coal Harbor. No luck though. Pulled back to Pendelton in the nick of time as a big BB bombardment hit Prince Rupert. The 50+ CD guns did...absolutely nothing as usual.

KB moves south and hits the repair yard at Astoria. I turned off repair for now. I´m finally getting some recon and better naval search up. Lots and lots of traffic going west. This includes 2 AKEs that are moving towards Dutch.

A nasty surprise for Nick just arrived on the East Coast....

Not really sure what to make of China right now. I think Jeff might actually be suffering from the same problem I do. Supply. There has been no more attacks on the Ankang road and his bombers have moved on to other targets.

Up at Lanchow he keeps bombarding but he don´t have enough to take the base. In the south the Panzer Armee keeps bombarding my troops but no more attacks. I´m a bit worried the inactivity is so low because he is planning on opening a 4th front in China. All I can do is wait and dig in. I actually have some reserves to spare again and I´m trying to rotate out the worst beaten up units for fresh ones. Unfortunately the Japanese air force takes a huge chunk out of anything trying to move.

Pretty amazed I´m still pretty much intact here.

------------------------
SOPAC/OZ
------------------------

The Allied Navy is finally upgraded and ready for some action. I´m pretty strong here in terms of naval and air power. Weaker on the ground though. But the geography actually doesn´t require big combat formations but rather smaller units in big numbers.

Plan is to start pushing my boundaries here slowly and quietly until July. Don´t want to make too much noise here quite yet but I want Jeff to remember that this part of the map exists. Fleet will reform in Melbourne while I await another 20 DDs coming from the states together with some ground reinforcements.

Jeff is starting to move quite boldly here lately and it might give me an opportunity. A recon squadron with F4s just arrived in Sydney and I´ll start feeling out the Japanese defenses.

Jeff is slowly advancing here and I´m trying to find out if I should counter attack or not. Can´t get good enough intel right now though.

I feel pretty strong here on the ground at least. I can muster another 2000 AV currently garrisoning Madras, Bombay and Karachi. Those troops are of poor quality though. Indian IDs with low MRL/EXP. US 32rd ID and British 2nd ID are arriving shortly though together with some USAAF fighters.

Might even send the Marines here... I like Marines.

I think the focus of attacking along the Ankang road is the main reason you're intact. It just leaves too much supply generating capacity for the Chinese untouched. It's still relatively early, but I think the Japanese campaign to subdue China has focused on the wrong objectives. A lot can change before the end of the year, but I wouldn't write China off yet Jocke.

I´ll try not to write it off just yet. Eventually it will come crashing down though. Of that I´m 100% sure. Not enough supply in China.

Marines - keep as strategic reserve in Strat Mode at Cape Town with faster xAPs, just in case. They are the best you have for now, so hold onto them.

I´ll send them to CT to begin with but they WILL see combat in 42!

Thanks for the reminder! I already have it on max draw but so far I can only get 60k supply there despite the amount of troops there. Hopefully I can pull more given a little time. India Command is also on its way there.

Supply produced in India tends to accumulate in Bombay. Maybe you could start shipping this supply to i.e Vizagpatnam and try to draw the supplies to Calcutta from there?

Calcutta - temporarily base lots of bombers (if you can) here and have the stockpile option turn on (Yes). This will draw in extra supplies.

Already put stockpile on a couple of weeks ago. Can only get 80k there. Hoping India Command will allow more to flow there.

Tick, tock.

------------------------
NORPAC
------------------------

Well, not happy as KB just left the area. Time for upgrades or is Jeff going to do something that requires the presence of the KB?

No bombings for the last couple of days. Strategic VPs are hovering just under 700 VPs. With KB gone I can possibly move Fighters back to Seattle. We shall see what the coming days bring.

Still looks like Jeff is pulling out most of his troops. Looking at the possibility of reinforcing Victoria and march to Coal Harbor during the autumn.

------------------------
SOPAC
------------------------

As KB disappears from NORPAC I have to take more care down here. Jeff bombards Townsville with a BB force destroying a Kittyhawk.

quote:

Night Naval bombardment of Townsville at 92,144 - Coastal Guns Fire Back!

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
Kittyhawk IA: 4 damaged
Kittyhawk IA: 1 destroyed on ground
PBY-5 Catalina: 2 damaged

7 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

Japanese Ships
BB Mutsu
CA Myoko
CA Maya
DD Hatsukaze
DD Kuroshio
DD Akigumo

Allied ground losses:
260 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 10 destroyed, 16 disabled
Engineers: 2 destroyed, 4 disabled
Guns lost 10 (5 destroyed, 5 disabled)

A small Japanese battalion is prepping for Noumea. I think its the same battalion that took Ndeni.

------------------------
India
------------------------

My recon continues to refuse to fly (low MRL) so I really have no clue what is happening here. Frustrating!

------------------------
China
------------------------

Suddenly Jeff attacks on the Ankang road again! No bombings from the air or ground for a couple of days here. We hold yet again. A small miracle!

quote:

Ground combat at 83,44 (near Ankang)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 42336 troops, 489 guns, 74 vehicles, Assault Value = 1242

Defending force 36564 troops, 184 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 465

Japanese adjusted assault: 425

Allied adjusted defense: 1012

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 2

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), leaders(+), experience(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
1003 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 121 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 10 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled
Guns lost 9 (1 destroyed, 8 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
750 casualties reported
Squads: 8 destroyed, 112 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 17 disabled
Engineers: 1 destroyed, 2 disabled
Guns lost 17 (1 destroyed, 16 disabled)

Assaulting units:
13th Tank Regiment
6th Division
3rd Division
41st Division
52nd Ind.Mtn.Gun Battalion
14th Medium Field Artillery Regiment
1st Mortar Battalion
2nd Ind. Mountain Gun Regiment
15th Ind.Medium Field Artillery Regiment
6th Medium Field Artillery Regiment

Defending units:
1st Chinese Corps
30th Chinese Corps
59th Chinese Corps
24th Group Army

I have a 260 AV Corps reinforcing in 2 turns. Have to pull out one of the defending Corps which is down to only 52 AV with 430 disabled squads.

Another needle...

------------------------
NORPAC
------------------------

I´ve been trying to hit Jeff´s LRCAP which hasn´t been successful. Mainly because its not there. I´ll take that too though...

quote:

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Alliford Bay at 199,46

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid spotted at 17 NM, estimated altitude 11,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 7 minutes

Allied aircraft
SB2U-3 Vindicator x 12
SBD-1 Dauntless x 2

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
AMC Asaka Maru, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage
PB Saiko Maru, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage
PB Santos Maru, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires

quote:

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Alliford Bay at 199,46

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid spotted at 19 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 8 minutes

Allied aircraft
SBD-1 Dauntless x 15

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
AMC Asaka Maru, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
PB Saiko Maru, Bomb hits 4, and is sunk
AK Kyushu Maru, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
PB Santos Maru, Bomb hits 3, and is sunk

That AMC is worth 25 VPs and the rest 10 VPs each. Only the PBs confirmed sunk so far. But I don´t think that AK and AMC will make it. Heavy fire, heavy damage is usually a death sentence to any Japanese ship.

No sign of KB. Bombers hit Vancouver for 12 HI and 1 LI hit. 8 Planes shot down.

------------------------
India
------------------------

A TF pops up in the middle of the Bay of Bengal. Shows as a CS and CA. Might be a SCTF hunting my ASW TF outside Madras. Or possibly something bigger...a straight line takes the TF to Jaffna on Ceylon. A lone sub is set to intercept.

------------------------
China
------------------------

Everyone and their grandmother hits the Ankang road. No ground attack though. A Corps will shift to the hex tomorrow but will be absolutely pummeled due to the lack of forts...

------------------------
SOPAC
------------------------

Both SCTF in NE OZ disappear.

Mistimed my screen and couldn´t be bothered to rerun the turn!

Japanese players frequently use the CS float planes to search ahead of the KB to locate subs and targets .... Since KB cannot be in the IO yet, I would expect the MKB somewhere behind the CS. There is no good reason to risk a CS in the IO unless there is a major operation coming - like a landing on Columbo or a major raid by carriers.

Yeah, MKB has been missing for quite some time now. Wouldn´t surprise me they are showing up now. Possibly upgrading?

If he is coming for Ceylon we will have a major fleet battle. Can´t allow him to land there.

Not much happening.

------------------------
NORPAC
------------------------

Nothing to report. 2 Sub attacks. 1 dud and 1 miss.

------------------------
SOPAC
------------------------

My new recon squadron goes to work and find a CA/BB TF sitting a PM and 4 units defending. Starting to empty SOPAC of convoys now that KB is missing. He could be in my LOC in 2-3 weeks. OZ have enough to last for at least 18 months. No need to take any chances.

------------------------
India
------------------------

The mystery TF disappears. Lots of subs in the Bay of Bengal. I´m hunting them as best as I can.

------------------------
China
------------------------

Another attack on the Ankang road. Trying to get what I can out.

quote:

Ground combat at 83,44 (near Ankang)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 41740 troops, 489 guns, 78 vehicles, Assault Value = 1173

Defending force 41357 troops, 223 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 572

Japanese adjusted assault: 502

Allied adjusted defense: 379

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), disruption(-), experience(-), supply(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
853 casualties reported
Squads: 8 destroyed, 159 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 10 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 12 disabled
Vehicles lost 9 (1 destroyed, 8 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
1737 casualties reported
Squads: 45 destroyed, 96 disabled
Non Combat: 4 destroyed, 22 disabled
Engineers: 1 destroyed, 3 disabled
Guns lost 18 (4 destroyed, 14 disabled
)

Next hex Jeff will have to shock attack into a x3 terrain with level 3 forts and 800 AV backed up by AT and Arty. Could be fun!

SIGINT
______________________________________________________________________________

No turn from Jeff tonight but I got some very interesting SIGINT last turn....

quote:

3/Guards Tank Division is located at Canton(77,59).

This unit arrives at CRB on May 1st. Since its a fragment left behind I can only assume this unit has shipped out somewhere. But where? Its a potent unit with 200 tanks including 100 Mediums....
