I'm thinking about picking up a new game. I've past CS games but haven't played Flashpoint. For those that have both, which one do you like better and why?

that's a hard choice for anyone to make tbh as there both very good games, so i'd guess you'd have to ask your self what time period you wish to play?

i like both so are on the fence, as i like nearly all time periods of war

This isn't gonna help you. I have both and there both good games and very different. Go with what ever time frame , content, game type you prefer. There both fun to play. No wrong answer here, I'd say get both

The current Flashpoint game is a huge improvement over the first Flashpoint game. CSME is a moderate improvement and mostly about the new time frame, as mentioned above.

However, because Flashpoint and the expansion is currently on sale, all else considered, get that now!

I have both, and both are excellent games. The main difference between them, in addition to the time frame/forces, is that CSME is very much a traditional wargame, while Flashpoint is really pretty unique--the asynchronous turns, the simultaneous turn resolution, less micromanagement, etc. Both dev teams are also very responsive and active on the forums.

Really, you should just get both!
