The Elite 40th Division is heading for Swatow...I am convinced the Allied will land deep behind the the lines, either here or in the Yellow Sea.

I thought a little more examination of the wonderful results are in order here. The Jugs swept at 19K; The Tojo was at 10K while the Franks were at 15K.

The Franks were scrambled between 15K and 26K. They were at 40/20 and 50/10 CAP/Rest while the Tojo was at 50% CAP. Warning was a scant 9 minutes, but long enough for all the Tojo's to get into position.

That's really good. Considering that your main objective is to avoid jan 1945 autovictory, that sets your opponent back 3400 points.

Also, he can't increase his plane production. I wonder if his pools are emptying up....

Pretty much this.

However... what are B-24 and other bomber losses for him? The combat looks to have mostly been fighters on fighters. If his bomber pools aren't awful, he can still continue to strat bomb. Which he shouldn't been doing ever since he landed on Hokkaido, with no breaks ever, but I guess maybe he wants to focus on retaking territory. This particular game has afforded him that flexibility, to a degree, but I wonder if he'll end up regretting not being more focused on Final Victory.

Wow, page 2 shame here. Been so busy with family and holidays, just now back to the regular routine. Sorry dear readers, but the game has progressed and not for Japan's favor.

June 7th, 1944

Half a world away the liberation of France begins, but here, the Empire suffers a bitter blow.

The KB is bushwacked from the east and after several days of running battles all but one carrier is sunk. The Kaga is a beast, absorbing amazing amounts of ammunition before finally breaking up.

Amagi is still alive, but there is no hope for her. The Tone took a torpedo but should get away.

Instead of circumnavigating Oz, I sent the carriers back to the north, since my search and intel had not detected any Allied shipping only for an Essex force to come out from below Noumea. Nobody to blame but myself in trying to take the easy way out.

Dalat and to the north are being heavily bombed, so in effect no supplies are reaching the troops there. Two Commonwealth armored units look to cross the river and I have only 130 AV and some 15cm guns there defending, but supply is critically low.

Elsewhere, there is a total stalemate to the north, and Saigon has 30+ Allied units resting. Probably basking in unbelievable amounts of supply.

Lang Son now has 5 divisions resting for the Empire, but I am sending some to Hainan and others to the Chinese Coast.

Amazing numbers of engineering units are marching out of Lang Son as I pull out all but a small group of engineers from Indochina.

Small consolation but if you are struggling for planes your opponent has it even worse...you are doing well in the air!

Nice of you to say, but I have lost the air war. Yes, Allies have lost a lot but he will get stronger, not Japan.

You are winning in the air. Not losing. At least for now. As Drakanel points of you are up 3400 VPs. That you are pretty close to a 1:1 in actual losses is a really good result.

And I bet your opponent havn´t prepared for the horrible, horrible autumn of -44 when he has to make due with only 80 USAAF fighter/month. To make it through that you have to ration USAAF fighters throughout 44. I think we can both agree your opponent havn´t done that...

Indochina....the massive Allied air bomber fleet has been targeting the IJA troops dug in north of Dalat. My, oh my, have they suffered. The air attacks have drained the troops of morale, and bullets.

Across the river, two tank regiments come screaming...fording the river. Seeking to crush the Japanese here, and then encircle about 4 divisions of beaten up troops around Cam Ranh Bay which by the way gets a night time visit by the Cleveland and escorting destroyers. Another sign of Japanese weakness.

But not this day! For this day, our troops, battered and bereft of ammunition, hold. Can reinforcements reach them before the Allied Tanks force overwhelm the position?

What a slugging match in we have had since Burma...north Indochina is a stalemate for now, but I fear Cam Ranh Bay won't hold for long especially given my inability to get supplies into the area for now.

I have a huge migration of troops out of Lang Son, but I fear for southern Indochina.

I managed to sneak another 100 or so AV into Matsuyama last night -- bringing the AV there to 472 strong enough to hold less the Allies bring even more to the party.

Interestingly enough Matsuyama's Ha32 engine factory is still producing...good thing to as we need the engines!

June 9, 1944

A relatively quiet day. Our Iboats finish off the large tanker they struck yesterday. The Allies just abandoned her? I know this because we attacked on the surface and even scored some gun hits before she went down.

No attack by the Allied Armor after crossing the river, and supply trucks have arrived for our troops who are, for the moment awash in rice and bullets in the field there, the towns are another matter where supply is short almost everywhere.

Don´t put too much faith in them. They still have zero chance against Shermans. You need forts and x3 terrain for them to be effective against allied armor.

My faith, to the degree that I have any left here in 44, is in combined arms and terrain. Artillery greater than 15cm, AA greater than 8 cm, the wonderful IJA infantry man (especially the 43 squads) and tanks to add mobility to plug gaps until they can be replaced by above. Any longer term slugging match and the IJA tanks lose.

Still, the Type 3 is such an improvement and is greatly appreciated.

I´m just making sure you don´t get disappointed!

PS. My RoT (from when I tested this, could have changed) was that against 2 US tank BTLs you need 1 Tank Division in x3 terrain. At all cost avoid clear terrain!

June 10th, 1944

Allies bomb, catch one of my small airfields and destroy 30 Kates on the ground.

An Allied sub sinks another xak in the SRA.

A lot of the Allied bombing focused on airfields today for whatever reason. My air festung, at Iwaki is bypassed.

No deliberate attacks in Indochina...and I continue to juggle my troops.

No real joy in the air, just less than 3-1.

VP ratio is now at 1.8 to 1. 37K strategic VP for the Allies. Supplies short in Indochina...
