Nationalists move a Cav south. Communists move Mao and an Inf to the Manchurian border and free the last of the rail hexes from Jap control.

USSR moves a Mech and Arm into the line in southern Russia.

M/J 41 Axis 7

No DoW

Germany and Italy land, Japan combined

Germany ground strikes two hexes in southern front. Do USSR want to intercept hex next to the last organized fighter?

Germany rails MIL to southern front.

Germany takes Gorki and Saratov.

Only one attack and it nearly fails.

Edit: Defending units are shattered.

M/J 41 Allies 8

No DoW

All pass except USSR, Land.

No naval or air missions.

No rail.

The Soviets move to bring their Arm back in supply and counter-attack the German spearhead. The Germans are thrown back at a cost of half the attackers disorganised. No losses to either side.

No rebases or reorgs.

Turn ends on a 3.

2 partisans appear in Russia.

US adds a chit to the Ge/It pool. It chooses to start strategic bomber production. The Japanese send a strongly worded letter to the US ambassador in Tokyo indicating their displeasure at such blatant American warmongering (2 rolled, 1 chit moved to Jap tension).

Losses. An expensive turn for the Soviets.

How about every one but USSR passing to increase the turn end by one (from 2 to 3), Soviets succeed but get a bunch of units flipped in a desperate +4 attack, and turn ends on a 3. I wouldn't be able to handle this from either side unless I saw the die rolls for myself.

BTW, that solitary 8-6 ARM looks juicy...no need to GS it.

Dice give, dice take. We have rolled hundreds of rolls. In every game good rolls and bad rolls will be about even when war is over. That takes thousands of rolls.

Btw, nice sneaky attack. My generals told me USSR can't make blitz and German units are safe... I could have placed ARM with MOT div to that hex.

Wow! Ok, my post if you read it again "I wouldn't be able to handle this from either side..."...so I wasn't publically doubting either one of you...just pointing out the extreme die rolls and the situation in which they are occurring...this also happened in S/O'39. In another MWiF thread some where I wrote about die rolls and tools that can be used...but that is me and this is your game and your AAR.

I apologize and will refrain from commenting here for the remainder of this game.

JT14, thank you for your response. Your contributions on strategy and tactics are always welcome and I would be sorry if they were to stop.

I think this AAR is showing how effective 'Fall Gelb' can be when it comes off. In this case with the twist of a much earlier Barbarossa for the second phase.

Regarding online die roll programs, is there one you can recommend that is free, e-mails each result as it happens , does so in a way that each roll is time-stamped and labelled for what the roll is for and, crucially, uses a recognised method for generating random numbers?

Germany reorganizes everything using 4,45 oil (oil used: 2x Gorki, 2x Breslau)

Italy reorganizes everything using 1,9 oil.

Japan reorganizes everything else but 5 BB's (Hyuga, Mutsu, Ise, Nagato and Yamashiro) using 2.4 oil. 2 oil points in Bangkok are used.

Allies reorganise everything except China can only afford Stillwell. CW spends 5 oil, USSR 2, others 0.

Germany scraps FTR2 and FTR3.

USSR scraps 2 Ftr-2's.

I never noticed that one of the 1941 FW 190 counters was a model "A-1" - I have a hunch that there haven't been all that many A-1 models of aircraft that made it to combat deployment, though I could see Teutonic efficiency at work there. Maybe also in the Me-262.

In the middle of the game I like putting pilots _into_ the Axis Minor aircraft. Depending on their current roster of land units, it might allow one more land unit to leave the country, generally on anti-Partisan garrison detail. It's like a 2 BP garrison unit...and a pilot reserve if air combat goes bad a few too many times. The pilot can be withdrawn back to a Controlling Major Power aircraft but the land unit need not return to the Minor Home Country. Could be what the Finns/Germans just did I guess.

Ditto for all the bad aircraft designs the Japanese have in their force pools - off to Korea they go, ready to return to new planes to fight the B-29s late in the war if needed.

J/A 41 Allied 1: Naval movement.

CW sends out all the various escorts. Ark Royal sails back to Liverpool. Queens take London Mil to Red Sea. CP from Gib to East Med. The CW CV task force sails from Malta to Italian Coast.

The French continue their escort contribution in West Med.

US sends a CV and 2 CL to East Coast 0-box.

The RAF send their shiny new Halifax's to Lille, with the Spitfire II's as escort. Does the Italian Macchi wish to party?
