It is beyond the Japanese Intelligence service to figure out the reason for this invasion at Nagoya.

The first of what seems like a hundred sweeps of Osaka. Then, of course, the bombers come. Ugly.

Over at Pescadores, where the Tone is in her last day of being stood down for emergency repairs...her boilers are finally getting hot, her crew back aboard, last minute hasty repairs are being done for a mad dash from the Deathstar headed her way....

The corsairs signal most likely a divebomber attack from the Deathstar later today and the end of the Tone. Pity, her speed is back up to 30 and she might have escaped. At least I moved the forty five Zekes away...they stand no chance for the those fighters.

In a strange twist of fate, the Allies don't strike Pescadores, so the Tone lives for another day to make a mad run back to the Yellow Sea. She has 42 system damage...and 30 knots.

Allies moving out...they have so many troops.

No attacks, but bombardments everywhere which Japan gets the best of.

Shikoku for example....the Allies have 5 divisions on this island between the two provinces under attack.

Holding fast here. Cam Ranh Bay bombarded by a CL force, and then bombed. Vinh bombed today for the first time in a while.

75 barges across three task forces moves the majority of the heavy infantry division across from Korea. I feel better...

A Japanese Heavy ID is a pretty darn tough defender in good terrain and with AA to protect them. Go get the invaders boys!

You can see how slack I have become with prep...I should do better.

July 3, 1944

Hey, hey, hey, 10 percent of July done. VP ratio has climbed to 1.9 with all the strategic bombing and the latest deathstar run sinking my merchant ships.

Today we lose 2-1 in planes as heavy sweeps hit one of my festungs...the festung survived into the afternoon to destroy two B29s. Whoopee!

An Allied attack at Matsumaya gets a 1-2 and doesn't even drop my forts there. Allies started bombing there today, so I suspect he is getting frustrated there...I will barge in another regiment with 35 prep tomorrow.

If Nagoya can hold on for a few more days, a big reinforcement groups arrives -- most likely with 100 prep.

100 prep, Urban Heavy, and Forts 2 will make for a tough unit indeed. Plus I have a HQc, HQy, and I switched over a command HQ making Nagoya like a rock in the river.

I am moving the 3Tank Division out of Osaka which got beefed up with another Infantry Division, pulled back from Shikoku, while the 24th Division arriving from Korea will head to the northern two hexes.

Things look good on Honshu until the Allies invade again. Moving troops from one side to the other will become tough once the Allies sever the rail line which I anticipate will happen in two days.

Allies bomb and bombard heavily again. They lose 47 planes, Japan 2.

A deliberate attack at Nagoya just barely makes 1-2 and knocks the forts down a level. Allies suffer twice as many losses. Have to hold out for a few more days! I think I can. I think I can.

No big activities in Vietnam...stalemate there. More of the heavy Division gets across from Fusan...Honshu still not severed by Allied troops.

Pictures to come tomorrow. Just thinking of what might have been!

Pretty realistic outcome I guess...the IJN BBs got away without an air attack so pretty good.

Reinforcement units arrive with 0% prep, not 100.

Ah, not true. I just got a reinforcement regiment with 100 percent prep at Osaka. Depends where the troops arrive...

Maybe not so much where, but how they are defined in the editor.

Japan is still fighting. Banzai! A real pity about that task force escaping though.

Still, it's really interesting to see what kind of resistance you can still mount even while invaded. Makes me want to start a game, if only I had the time for it.

VP balance doesn't look good though... but keep fighting!

Thanks Drak., the VP is poor. I suspect he will pass 2-1 in July of 1944 sometime, unless he radically changes his tactics.

So I have to prevent 3-1 until Jan 1, 1945.

Here is the battle report from Nagoya.

The defenders are getting heavy disruption from all the naval bombardments, plus the Allies started bombing from the air today. Nagoya will never be the same.

I wonder if the Allies will pull back and land south of Nagoya. Each day that goes by Honshu becomes stronger with fresh reinforcements and replacements. I think 20 Type 3 Tanks went into service yesterday alone but I lost 3 in the fighting at Nagoya yesterday.

But I need big Divisions with IJA 43 squads and more AA. Soon I get the 12 cm upgrade...that will be over 100 big tubes capable of putting a hurt on the Allied bombers.

Well, it's the divisions that will hold the line. Holy cow that's high disruption!

A look at the AA/ART/ARM units.

Does anyone know if I put some of the ART into reserve if it will avoid the naval bombardment?

Just your normal bombing and bombardment here. Even though the bases are in the red, the troops have enough to fight with and to improve their field fortifications.

I have an SST running in supply, plus all my Tabbys flying in supply. Obviously not enough. Supply from Hong Kong just doesn't travel to Vietnam.

The 14th Division has pulled out of Cam Ranh Bay, with a 12 morale. Off to Lang Son for supplies and attitude adjustment hour (or weeks).

I really like the Tone.

Long time readers may recall her absurdly long raiding sojurns...to off Perth, off Karachi, and halfway to Huntington Beach.

She also caught 3 torpedoes early on, which prompted the immediate sacking of the original, horrible, commander and hence Bunji got the job. Great Captain!

How in the world will I ever get her fixed. My best bet is to create minor repair yards in bigger ports and get Naval Support there and pray she stays hidden from the B29 port strikes.

I look at your map of Japan and wonder what your opponent hopes to accomplish with these isolated groups of troops? Any insight here?
