Just curious if there are any other SASL (Solitaire Advanced Squad Leader for the uninitiated) players on here that also have TotH? Have you tried using the SASL system to generate a scenario and then plug it into TotH? I'm working on my first one and it seems to work pretty well as far as generating the base scenario although it seems you need to walk through all the Suspect counters ('?'), RE and ENEMY unit generation processes in advance as if each '?' activation would be triggered during the mission.

Anyway, I am working on a little project and hope to at least have the 1st mission done soon. I'll post more as soon as I can.

I used to play SASL quite a bit when I was into ASL about twenty years ago, and would be interested in seeing what you come up with.

I used to apply the SASL system to regular scenarios, and it seemed to work fine -- though, I wouldn't make any claims as far as play balance went. If I remember correctly, I would only use the SASL AI for scenarios where I was on the attack.

Yeah, there is the chance of very little 'balance' in the missions because they are meant to be played over an extended number of missions in a campaign format and you can come up against a really strong opponent who you have no little to no chance of beating, you just need to survive with as many units as you can to be ready for the next mission.

I used to build scenarios in Steel Panthers for a group of players where each player was basically a Company Commander (similar to the Group SASL concept) and after each scenario, they would send me their end game files and I would carry over the surviving units to the next scenario so that each was playing their own mini custom campaign over a strategic map but with a group objective. It was fun, but alot of work and I am thinking if I generate the scenario's using the Mission cards all the way through to the end game using SASL, then port that to TotH it will work pretty much the same way.

I love sasl. tigers is obviously a paternal twin. well sorta. I would like to see tigers lean further sasl like RE and different but unknown ac numbers and ALL did I say ALL the rules from 2nd edition and sasl.
included. at any rate I find the game to be a blast and rather playable since I finally figured out its ui. I could not make squad smoke tho. I don't know if that's a bug. since the rest of the game actually did what it was told to do once I started reading directions. But being rather old now with time running out. I simply don't have time to teach tigers the rules. not even the starter kit rules so somebody had better volunteer. have fun with our cool new toy gentleman

For those following along, this is what I am working on. I have been trying to find the original author so I can properly credit them when I get far enough into it to start releasing scenarios (the .pdf file I was able to locate doesn't have anyone listed). Here is the intro from the pdf.

SASL 2.0 – “Tiger Ace - Otto Carius” Campaign

The following SASL 2.0 Campaign is designed to loosely mimic some the battles that the German tank commander Otto
Carius fought in. It covers the period from January 1943 to February 1945. All information was obtained from the book
“Tigers in the Mud: The Combat Career of German Panzer Commander Otto Carius” (Stackpole Military History Series).

There are several assumptions made when designing this campaign. From the book, the 502nd Heavy Panzer Battalion
2nd company spent a fair bit of time supporting infantry or supported by infantry. Thus this campaign includes both an
infantry company as well as 2 tigers for the payer to control. While historically inaccurate for all the battles listed, this is
done so the game would be more interesting to play. Also there is little mention of weather conditions as such no
weather conditions are listed here. Players are encouraged to either roll for weather or decide on the weather before
play. In addition only one of the battles for each month has been listed rather including all the operations that he was
involved in. The ones included have also be done to give players a variety of different scenarios.

There are like 10 total scenarios in the campaign. Since some things in ASL are not implemented in TotH I will be adjusting as I go along.

Here is the player's base starting force. Of course, Tank Leaders are not implement in TotH.

Paullus and I are playing Valor of the Guards CG2, 5 years now. We are using Tom Morin's CG SASL rules. We both play on German side agaist the Russian side, best fun I ever had in ASL ;)

If anyone is getting hammered trying to win as the Germans please let me know. I'm testing out different CVP (Casualty Victory Points) formulas and may need to make some adjusts that scenario.

Group SASL is such a great concept. I have been thinking about working something similar up but using TotH. Would require the GM to build all the scenario's but I think it could work. While not 'multiplayer', it would allow people to play together towards accomplishing a single goal.

It is very doable. I have been very active in the GSASL group for years. I helped running Campaigns like Cyrenaica, Bessarabia and Stalingrad. Lots of fun.

Yes, someone would have to photoshop out all the infantry counter smoke component entries on the modded ASL counters to remove those.
