That is a concern. I take it the Yokohama base force has had it's TOE upgrade?

If so, that's 90 odd 12.7cm DP guns firing that didn't manage to destroy a plane outright, let alone what other AA units were in the hex. Considering the 12.7cm DP is one of the (if not the best) Japanese flak device, that has me worried. At 7000ft even the 8cm flak pop-guns should have been having a go...

Granted, nearly 10% of the raid suffered damage, but not a single outright loss to flak?

Not very pleasant eh?

This seems not quite right. I can't remember now completely but I'm pretty sure either Yokohama or Hiroshima was hit in my game and the AA did some damage.

Base leaders?

Luck? Morale/disruption/supply factors?

My B-29s take plenty of damage from flak at 10,000 ft.

Cigar-chomping Curtis LeMay sent B-29s in at 6,000 feet for the night firebombing missions since there was a gap in AA coverage there. I'm not at home (thus can't check the database), but wouldn't 127mm and possibly even 80mm not be able to fire as low as 7,000 feet?

Cheers,
CC

Just poor results. Good commander, morale, supply, plentiful guns,no disruption, no fatigue, etc.

Just tough planes with very good pilots.

Allies bomb and bombard at will, basically.

Pakhoi gets some attention today, and the Coast of China, with about 600 AV in all port hexes is really wide open to invasion and rolling bombardments.

No real idea on how to defend, especially with supply routines failing. Even though I have lots of fuel in China, China HI is constantly failing. Supply simply not traveling from Manchuko to the west.

I need to buy time...rest of Aug, September, October, November and December. Seems monumental at times.

I have a nice 20K supply convoy at sea in the SRA, but how to get it to China?

Should be able to hold Vinh for a while. Not long, since it will be bombed and bombarded into the stone age, but forts 5 should help.

Nagoya:

Due to the heavy naval bombardments, I have had to move out a lot of Eng unit which had been devastated. Daily bombardments were destroying 50+ devices, destroyed the static units, and can destroy a fresh artillery unit in 2 days.

However the armor remains untouched by the naval bombardments, and my infantry remains pretty well sheltered except for a sacrificial division (which rotates each day).

But the lack now of artillery, engineers and AA has me really worried.

I tried putting them in reserve status, but there is no place to hide from naval bombardments if you are a engineer or artillery unit. The only hope is to have enough units to disperse the bombardments across many and then rotate them in and out as they become heavily disabled.

Aug 10 1944

Lost a big AO today, sitting in port at Ternate to a B29 strike.

Lost 18 Judies trying to hit some destroyers. Lost 20 A6M5c and 5 Georges to a large carrier born sweep of 100+ corsairs.

Allies clean up in Vietnam.

Japan goes CV hunting in the Yellow Sea...

After the assault winds down, the Allied army has been hurt. But so has the Empires. The reserves are not called forward, is that a good thing? Or is the attack an overwhelming Allied victory and the reserves are the first to retreat to where. New lines of course, as Japan will continue to fight no matter the outcome...

the outcome. Hard to tell, we will have to wait for the early hours. The chaos of battle surges here and there in the rubbled city. Japanese command and control broken by the horrendous aerial and naval bombardments.

But the sound of the main guns on the Type 3 tank still bark. Let us hope they bite too!

Men of the 3rd A, B, and C division stand ready. Tank hunter heroes await to pick thru the rubble, and bring down a dreaded Sherman. These men, these experienced men (83) are half of the reserves.

Awaiting the call.

The call to save the city.

That call never comes. The front lines hold!

They hold!

The butchers bill...

and fresh troops are being sent into the town for it all to happen again.

And again.

And again.

We will break the Allied will to fight in the rubbled graveyards of our largest cities.

The defenders of Nagoya prepare for another day. A new division will form up, the 3rd Guards will splinter to hide and recover from the naval bombardments.

Fresh troops will move in.

Shattered units will move out.

Task Force Haruna half way to their target of Kochi.

Kochi, on Shikoku, where the Allied deathstar will be refueling.

We hope and pray.

Japan will never surrender.

That is until Jan 1, 1945.

The target.

Will they refuel at Shikoku? That is the question.

Armor. A key piece in the Nagoya defense.

The 27th Tank Rgt lost 40 Type 3's in fighting yesterday. Only 43 were lost for the day.

To be fair, a strong resolve is the most needed quality in a Japanese player once 1944 and 1945 roll around.

Eh, it just requires the right frame of mind.

It's when you're out at a social event and you start talking about going "on a kamikaze mission to the bar" that you need to start worrying.

I did have one amusing conversation with someone who was going backpacking in Thailand, headed to Chang Mai.

They didn't know where it was, so I explained it to them. They then asked if I'd been. Didn't really want to admit that I knew that because I've an Allied army putting the squeeze onto it...

Task Force Haruna is a go...will be heading to an island, and disbanding hopefully before air strikes. There will be about 150 planes flying CAP for TF Haruna, but I would rather they go in quick and disband at night.

I reinforced by rail Nagoya with 1 full division, and 2 brigades. I am moving out several shattered regiments. We shall see if the Allies attack again...I don't think he will, but perhaps I am wrong.

I am really hoping I can get TF Haruna into position relatively unobserved. I plan on using every MTB I have to sweep into port prior to TF Haruna. I really need a little win here...
