Yeah. He discovered that he had forgotten WIF at home.

Edit: With WIF it would have been a glorious, long winter, that ended all to soon.

Her sister Queen Elizabeth took the brunt of the damage but RMS Queen Mary (what an absolute beauty of a ship) returns to blighty with a much relieved General Gort. Why it took two of Cunard's finest to transport Gort to France is a mystery. I mean I know he was slightly plump but that's overkill surely

Anyway, the news that surprises me, is after all these years of bigging up a battleship, what really tickles Warspite1's fancy is a pair of old Queens.

The Soviet Union wish to take further advantage of the opportunities afforded by our recent historic agreement. I wish to take back what is rightfully ours in the Balkans, namely the territories of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina.

I am sure you will have no issue with this. As you know, strictly speaking under the terms of the recent pact, I do not even need to mention this to you in advance.

However, as a courtesy to my great friend, and in the spirit that the pact was entered into, I am giving advance notice that in short order the mighty Red Army will liberate the Soviet citizens being held in terrible conditions by their Romanian masters.

Perhaps I could ask for German acknowledgement of this action ... for the sake of good order you understand?

Cheers me ol' mucker, luv you always (remember bro's before ho's)

Jo

The Divine Emperor of Japan extends the hand of friendship to the people of Persia.

There is mention of an army. Perhaps some aide can be sent for to explain its composition to me? What are the latest dispositions of our Comrade Jo's forces?

There you go - the Soviets have Zhukov and a 5-3 in the southern most hex on the Caspian eastern shore. A 3-3 north of them and a 1-5 Cav to the east. On the west bank there is 2-5 Cav, a 1-3 ENG and a bomber. Three more bomber are further north and in range of the capital.

I believe its just the capital - there are no factories so its just downtown Tehran that needs occupation.

Ah, it would seem the Persian forces face a classical pincer movement.

The Cav will have to go in Tehran, thanks.

What a place to locate a capital. Open terrain when there's those lovely defensible mountains all around.

The actions chosen are as follows:

Land: China, France
Combined: Commonwealth, USA, USSR
Naval: N/a

The game is on hold there as Ormster wants to do the naval moves for the CW. I understand he will be around later this afternoon.

In the meantime here is a little musical interlude for your delectation and delight. A most apt piece of music while wargaming:

CW sends force H out to hunt for the Italian fleet in the West Med.

CW also send one squadron of submarines to the Italian Coast and another squadron to the Western Mediterranean.

Edit: I forgot to write that USSR send out one convoy point to the Caspian Sea.

CW initiate combat in the Italian Coast. Will Italy send out their bomber? If so, to what box?

Allies rolls a two and with an Axis roll of 9 the Italian convoy is history.

(4 surprise points was spent on making it a submarine combat and the rest were not actually needed)

The Allied submarines stay in the Italian Coast. I assume that the Italian bomber stay as well?

Either way the submarines does not commit to combat.

CW search in the West Med. The sub initiates.

Will Italy reinforce with their fighter?

The Italian fleet in the 4 box finds the Allied fleet.

Allies roll 7 and Italy rolls 5.

Italy gains 3 surprise points and a naval air combat will soon begin. How will Italy spend their surprise points?
