Since the place is so quiet why not have a quote thread? There are many great ones throughout history. Let's keep it to people no longer living in an attempt to stay civil.

I'll go first.

“It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.”

― Mark Twain

I'm a huge fan of Twains work and awesome quotes especially the coarse ones.

Great. And Lincolns thoughts on character,

'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.'

“I have the body of a weak, feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a King of England too.”

Queen Elizabeth I 1588 addressing the troops at Tilbury ahead of the expected Spanish invasion.

Although I liked the Blackadder version more

"I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and the stomach of a concrete elephant!"

General George S. Patton

There are variations of that saying. Did he repeat it several times with some different words? Or has his original phrase been corrupted over time?

It does seem to have evolved or changed over time, or where the quote comes from. For here's another version of it; one that I've heard a number of times as well.

“No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country.”
General George S. Patton
