Well I'd swap Liverpool's trophy cabinet for Tottenham's any day of the week.

Not sure what is so bad about being a Liverpool fan right now. I think you have a great manager, you are in the semi-final of the Europa League, a big ground (set to become bigger) and they will no doubt make money available to Klopp this summer.

I think what the last couple of games has shown is Spurs need to strengthen the set of players who are on the fringes of the first team. You could see it last night when Mason came on (was watching in Amsterdam). When Spurs were sort of playing for 4th place max, most likely 5th or 6th then he was an asset, last night he just fumbled badly.

Still reckon Spurs will be second, think Man City will either be holding everything back for a CL final or utterly demoralised if Real dump them out. Equally would be surprised if Arsenal really manage to be consistent - but in any case as you say if 3rd had been on offer at the start of the season then it would have been a real success

Status: offline 		Well, well, well. Guardiola goes to prove that this football manager lark is not as easy as some believe.

He ends his reign as manager of Bayern Munich with no Champions League trophy - just a bunch of domestic trophies in a league dominated by one team - Bayern Munich.

He'll be looking to restore his reputation somewhat at Manchester City next season....

Obviously hope you are right but I am afraid Gary Lineker was, if not wrong about his summary of football, then only partially correct. He should have said "Football is a game played over 90 minutes and at the end the Germans win, and Arsenal finish above Spurs".

If Spurs finish the season with more than 1 point from the last two games (Southampton on great form and Newcastle fighting for survival) I will be amazed. No Alli, Dembele, possibly no Rose, no Alderwerield (plus any bans for a build up of yellows?) together with the mental disappointment of Monday = meltdown.

I hate football - did I ever mention that?

1. True, a great team in the 80s...For the past years there has been too many almosts.

2. Good manager, I agree. As to europe, it is the "european almost league"

3. Yeah, and Liverpool has proven how good they are at spending thei rmoney well over the last years

I fear that the main issue faced by Liverpool is that they are now an "almost there"-club, and the city of Liverpool is not the most exciting place for footballers of today. So I fear it might be difficult to attract the best players, and I fear in the end that we will be an almost-team for another decade. Whereas when I look at Tottenham I feel they improve every season, espesially compared to the other teams in the top. I think Spurs will place above us next year as well...

got to, respectfully, disagree with you on this one. Its been really nice the last 4 years being spared the idiocies of the 'Old Firm' games. Not just the general disruption to the city or the sectarian nastiness that goes with it, but also that every time they play there is a (very large) spike in domestic abuse. Just to remind us all, this re-occured a few weeks back after the cup semi final between the two.

Now Clyde vs Partick Thistle is a joy for all

Again, lets hope you are right, but in order for Spurs to improve (and certainly to finish above Liverpool) they will need some big investment in a few key areas mentioned above.

Well I've been following Spurs for over 40 years and today was as predictable as it was boring (I said this would happen weeks ago in the WITP-AE forum (except I suggested Newcastle would remain in the Premiership as a result).

Supporting Spurs is a hideous way to live life. No one should have to put up with that sort of torture in this day and age. Its a cruel and barbaric way to spend one's existence. No need for it whatsoever.

Please give generously to "Stop Putting Up (with) Rubbish Soccer" or Text SPURS and donate today. Together we can end this nonsense.

Quite positive the fact that you'll be playing the Champions league.

As said previously I would have taken 3rd at the start of the season - at least there is no tricky Champions League qualification round to navigate. But given the points advantage with just a few games to go, finishing behind Arsenal is a sickener.

Not sure why you have to be careful what you say?? Arsenal (when compared to Spurs) have a better, more experienced squad, more money, a bigger ground, and a manager who knows how to win trophies. They finished second because they deserved to.

Status: offline 		On the flip side as an Arsenal fan it was the same old same old season. Not enough character or really world class quality in the key moments and yet again Wenger (as great as he is and has done for Arsenal and football in general) isn't prepared to adapt.

Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these Wenger out types (although I am frustrated) though...look at Man U and be careful what you wish for/happens when you change a big long standing manager...

I am a portuguese supporter of Sporting Clube de Portugal and the end of our league was particularly painful...
We spent most weeks on first place. We played very fine. We scored 86 points in 34 games (top score in all our history, even more than all the times we were champions). We only lost 2 games...but one was at home with our life-time rivals (Benfica, 0-1; but we had won 3-0 on their home...) and we again at the end lost the chamiponship to...Benfica, by 2 points...

As we are used to say, maybe next year...

We are indeed "Sporting Club de Portugal". We are a national team :)

Our rivals, on the other hand are "Sport Lisboa e Benfica" Benfica is a mere Lisbon area..;)

There's no Sporting Lisbon,as far as I know. Franciscus is Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting for shorter).

My guess is that it is because some UEFA rule. I know that my team, although internationally unknown, must add their home town to the club name whenever they play UEFA football.

I guess all of this is subject to injury - but let's assume there are no injuries ahead of the cut to 23 - so three must go (in bold)....

Goalkeepers:
Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley)

Obviously all three make it

Defenders:
Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham)

There are only seven - two left backs, two right backs and three central defenders (but Dier can move into the back four if needed) and so I think all seven will make it.

Midfielders:
Dele Alli (Tottenham), Ross Barkley (Everton), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Andros Townsend (Newcastle), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)

Two to go here and this is more difficult. Personally I would drop Townsend as he is too inconsistent. I think the other one to go will be Delph (most likely - but a Hodgson favourite) or Drinkwater, but again I would not bet on it being Wilshire because he gets injured.

Forwards:
Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester)

Typically you need four - at the most five. I think Rashford will miss out but I would not bet against Sturridge getting injured which lets him in.

Who would I leave behind? Sturridge (injury-prone), Sterling (massively over-rated) and Wilshere (injury-prone).

I remember reading that a few years ago. Shocking stat. How can one of the two big Edinburgh clubs never have won the cup?

And when it did, why the hell did it have to be against Rangers
