Hi all,

This Beta Patch only works for Matrix version, NOT for Steam version.

1.03r is still PRIVATE BETA. Private beta is much like public beta, except that there is no Matrix installer. It thus also means that it is still in testing and might not be fully stable.

(the latest official release version is 1.03p)

Please do report in this thread if you have installed and running the v1.03 without any issues.

If you are uncomfortable installing files manually or your anti-virus software is not playing ball please wait till this patch goes gold or a matrix public beta patch is created.

If not keep reading... please do...

Install instructions

1. Download the ZIP: here

2. Find your game directory.

3. Rename your existing Barbarossa.exe to something like Barbarossa_backup.exe

4. Rename your BarbScenarios directory to something like BarbScenarios_backup

5. Unzip the zip downloaded in step 1 and copy the contents inside your game directory.

6. Start the game and verify you have v1.03r in the left-top corner of the main menu. (the scenario setup screen should read in very small print 3th june below the title)

NOTE: That save games are fully compatible between all versions in circulation.
NOTE: Only the items below noted with (E) should kick in with older saved files, for the other fixes to kickin you'd need a fresh start.

Changelist 1.03r subversion 2

-Fixed a unit, that was withdrawn during the previous turn and who was also involved in combat (and retreated), from inadvertently ending up on the Honour roll (they didn’t die, they just withdrew).

-Fixed Soviet Instant Win Victory not triggering in unusual circumstances

-Typo’s in ‘Propaganda Film’ decision fixed (OKW instead of OKH)

-Text in tool tips for Relationship tab (German) changed to highlight the difference between dynamic and static information

Changelist 1.03r

-Graphics speed improvements with mouse to edge of screen scrolling and option in prefs tab for faster drawing utilising some optimized drawing code. This improves noticeably map scrolling on high resolution (4k) monitors by quite a large amount. (E)

-For all those people with special systems… Added a windows.txt file in which users can run the game in Windowed mode (at a specified width*height) or with DPI still run by Windows if they want. Not advised to use, but I thought i open it up. (E)

-Soviets Massed ART/Tanks & Air Defence card activations fixed (not showing previously when they should)

-Duplicate 56th Inf bug (German - withdraw, deploy, only one instance reported). Possible fix.

-Improved PDF victory texts for clarity in case of sudden death victories

-Numerous text and typo corrections

-Sevastopol now receives supply by sea (from Sukhumi - upgraded to major city/port in order to facilitate this)

-Hugo’s (War Diary) unit is given a darker shade to ID it in counter mode 1

-German language corrections throughout

-War Diary - fixed several issues that can occur with the death of poor Hugo.

-Tried to adress some multi-monitor issues. Will need feedback to see if I made a difference. (E)

-Capping some rare to long text strings (E)

-Option to reread the diary entry once in-turn (small button next to oil) (E)

@All

If your giving it a whirl please do start a new game and please do let us know if all is running smoothly. Even if it is do please drop a note.

I would be especially interested in your experiences when turning on the 'high speed gfx' flag in the prefs>gfx&resolution subtab.

Also I would be interested to hear from multi-monitor users how this version is running on their systems and if they still have problems running the game windowed (see editing windows.txt file) might help.

We are looking forward to your feedback!

Devs, thank you for continuously improving the game! I, as a Steam user, feel a little bit "second-class" though. ;) Please make the Beta versions available to Steam users. Thanks! :)

Tanks for the hard work, this game is amazing! Installed, the beta is indicated with 1.03r not 1.03m3.

Thanks for catching that copy&paste glitch from the last install instructions :)

Thanks for the great game
Von Bock relationship "positive" (-8)
He agrees to PG having focus, but i can't play focus card on 2nd PG.
Is this a bug or I don't understand something? (V. 1.03r)

Hi MrClock,

You've fallen through one of the games small cracks here.

The reports in the tab (eg. the Daily Log AGC in your screenshot) are current for the beginning of the turn. Bock would have had +ve relationships at this point and would be able to focus on a Panzergruppe.

You've then made a decision or two that has resulted in a shift in his attitude and you no longer have a positive relationship with him by the time you go to play the focus card on 2nd PG and it's no longer allowed.

You can see from the tool tip on Bock's picture in the relationship's tab that it's now -8. The tool tip here is dynamic and updates continuously whereas anything in the reports tab is only current for the start of the turn.

The crack that you've fallen through is the dynamic tool tip having updated it's relationship level (to -8) but still showing as having a positive relationship and being able to give focus to a PG which are two pieces of information that are also ascertained at the start of the turn so you've got a mix of dynamic and static information in the tool tip and it's not clear which is which. It's been done this way as there were issues with speed (noticeable lag) when it was fully dynamic.

I'll take another look at it. In the meantime giving focus to a PG when the theatre commander has a marginally positive relationship with you is probably not a good idea as any shift in attitude can flip him into negative territory and the PG will automatically loose their focus. Best to wait until your relationship is GOOD before doing so.

Cheers,
Cameron

Hi,

I've changed the text in the Relationship tab tool tips to better highlight the difference in static and dynamic information. It'll be in the next update.

Cheers,
Cameron

Uploaded v1.03 subversion 2 with a number of extra fixes.

If no kinks this one is going to be a public beta soon.

Thanks everybody for helping test this private beta. It should make for a more quick and smooth public beta.

Best wishes,
Vic

Two Romanian 3rd Army divisions in blitzkrieg mode cannot regain readiness, even though they are full supply. Is this part of the game or a bug?

It's part of the game (Game Manual 6.1.7.2. Fatigue)

Thanks for the reply, but it does not appear to be the issue. The Romanian divisions in question only had about 15 fatigue. Accordingly, being in full supply should raise readiness 40, then fatigue is subtracted, meaning their readiness should have increased by 25 per turn. The divisions were not moving or engaging in combat.

Hi Jagdfluger,

Readiness involves a number of factors, fatigue being one of them. It's hard to tell from your description what's going on so it's probably best to send me a save file and I'll take a look.

cameron dot tasmania at gmail dot com

No news yet on the public Beta but it shouldn't be far away.

cheers,
Cameron
