Finished my turn and sent the file to the Allies and also to Windows 10...maybe later today I will load it into tracker and check a few things.

But to be honest these days, all I use tracker for is a quick look at the VP ratio and to keep a consistent history of the supply loss due to bombing.

Often times I can't even bring myself to look a the supply loss.

I setup a few traps, and moved some troops...I decided to try and get a division and some artillery in the wood rough terrain on the road SW of Chungking. They might be able to hold for a day or two against 7 Chinese corp.

I stopped counting as I passed 40 Chinese Corp headed to Chungking plus some Commonwealth tanks.

No stacking limits in this game, so I am shafted...

You just set the resolution. Here are my switches for my desktop, which has the same resolution. I deliberately use a size that leaves some space at the bottom so the Windows menu bar is accessible to quickly change between apps (Tracker, etc).

Bobcat Windowed, Windows 7:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -cpu4 -dd_sw -archive -wd -pxf1920 -pyf1018 -noFire -skipVideo

THANK YOU. Just what I needed as well to see the full list of taskforces in massive allied armada`s.

I just looked at my win10 settings, and I have adopted your pxf settings but otherwise it looks thus:

-w -pxf1920 -pyf1018 -altFont -skipVideo -dd_sw -SingleCpuOrders -deepColor

and this on a 4 gig ram, win10, intel core2 duo, 64 bit dinosaur, but the game runs very fast and very smooth, much faster than in windows 7.

VP ratio has climbed to 2.342 to 1, but still under the peak of 2.347 six days ago.

I have taken to hoarding more supply on the HI, but one of the results is loss of VP for bases.

I can fix that however by tactically releasing supply giving me a bigger cushion. I can release the supply, putting those bases back into supply and garnering a boost in VPs.

Perhaps it will be enough to keep the game going for another week or so if it comes down to the wire in December.

I will need to watch troop supply levels to avoid losses to lack of supply however.

Only 5 Oscars ever show up over the cargo fleet on the Chinese river, and most of the single engine bombers fly right under, but I do catch some Mitchells.

His planes, including up to B29s catch my ships. Plus a few Yank destroyers are getting close.

I fully expect an invasion of Honshu again here shortly...

I sent some troops to reinforce the northern beaches...everybody is getting worn out from the naval bombardments.

Chungking won't hold for more than 10 days I bet...

A new month here...then only one more to go.

Last day, I doubt I make December. Surely he will have sunk 400 more merchants by then and taken Chungking.

Lots of fights on rivers today...at first we do well...

Three E's die valiantly, and we do accomplish draining the Yanks of their ammunition...but many ships sink from damage incurred yesterday.

B29s on port strikes never miss.

I'm quite disappointed to see that the Allied DD's can run upriver without much issue in the face of CD guns. I wonder if it might have made a difference having a dedicated CD unit like the Wake Gun Bn rather than depending on a base force with DP guns.

Oh well, need to find somewhere new to hide the IJN merchant marine come '45.

Turn is away.

I am hitting, hopefully the Chinese troops, 2 Corp, in the open in the plains of Chungking. Fighter Bombers strafing and Helens at 2000 feet.

Only one small half squadron sweeping, and another providing LRCAP.

This could be the last ride of the Japanese bombers.

Incredible, a new month.

Hey, a good combat here in China...

Lots of bombardment and aerial bombardment in Honshu, specifically northern Honshu beaches. Uh-oh.

China

My bombers disabled over 40 combat squads in the Central Plains of China as there was no LRCAP over those two Corp....

I don't see how Chungking lasts for more than two weeks. Doubt even that long.

1300 AV at Changsha...more on the way. Forts only 2.

The collapse that is Japan continues into November.

The Chinese and Commonwealth tanks blow thru the nasty terrain south of Chungking in one attack after heavy bombing.

One of the Chinese Corp was over 950 AV. Chungking will most likely fall on the first shock attack.

I did manage to catch some SBD's unescorted...Allies lose 40 planes and Japan loses 10. But Chungking will fall, and then the merchant convoy will be sunk...can I survive after that?

Mines also seem to have absolutely no effect in rivers.

Against the AI I routinely isolate a huge stack in Hankow and the AI runs shipping up river to resupply it.
I have tried interdicting the riverine traffic with sub laid mines but the AI TFs plow through without ever encountering the mines.

In what quantity? From what I've seen with mines, they need to be extremely dense to have any real effect, at least upwards of three hundred or so.

As for the CD guns, it could just be the case that the absence of a proper dedicated CD gun unit (as defined in the editor) is the cause for no reaction fire. It makes sense, in a way - the base force guns are there to defend the base, not act as CD guns.

I've seen dedicated CD gun units make a mess of destroyers trying to transit a narrow strait.

Mines are being swept and the DP guns aren't defending them.

No mine hits that I am aware of...on either side as the Allies dropped air mines in the past.

Turn is done, and I am airlifting an airmobile light division in chungking...which I guess I should have done long ago. But with supplies being short I always found a reason to hold off on doing so. Won't even buy me a day, but I will try.

I have always been hideously short on PP this whole game.

What I did here was take a Division assigned the a northern army in China and moved it up to the parent unit which is also the same HQ that Chungking is. This allowed me to airlift the division to Chungking and save tons on the PP.

I did a poor job of managing my PP this entire game, and only now am I starting to understand the system better.

I have studiously avoided doing gamey HQ switches in this game, but my predecessor did putting troops into air HQs for example.

Didn't help him much.

The dp gun cites on the Yangze will has gotten more sub laid mines today and tomorrow. I will spend the rest of my type 88's here I think, as the subs can reload at Shanghai.

They haven't worked at all, but there is always tomorrow.

Our Fighter Bombers are proving a mild distraction over China....here they pulled off a LRCAP...I would have done much better, but I had 50% of the squadrons sweep too.

Still, the Sen Baku got a kill, and the B model everyone hates did all right versus the bombers, but in the replay only damaged bombers.

70,000 Chineses and Commonwealth troops are crossing the river north into Chungking. One of the Chinese Corp's weighs in at almost 1,000 AV.

I have only 450 AV there, and few supplies.

I am flying in troops at the rate of 65 AV per day...but given the road structure the Allies will be here very shortly.

Chungking falls to the first shock attack. Heavy bombing and lack of supplies and manpower cripple the IJA's defenses.

The VP ratio climbs to 2.46 to 1 with another bump coming in a day or two when the Chinese get supply in Chungking.

Helen bombers sortied and bombed the river crossing, but flak was very heavy at 5,000 feet and only minimal losses inflicted. Elsewhere Oscars swept, poorl against Jugs and Lightnings and Mustangs, over the 2 Chinese Corp in the Central Plains and Nicks followed up with a strafing attack. The Nicks go thru, but generally got butchered after their runs.

Helen kamikazes attack, and miss, a destroyer squadron off Shanghai. 70 Low naval...

No invasion on Honshu yet....Allies quiet there with there bombers. Maybe today?

Allies are quite clever in China, detaching tank units to the north to aid the Chinese troops...it really makes a very big difference.

Canton is held with around 3K AV, Kukong 1400, Changsha 1800 AV. The circled and arrow hexes are where I need to try and get at least a division too, but there aren't many free troops left in China past the strong points mentioned below.

Chungking will now be flooded with troops, if lacking heavy equipment, and they will swarm out. But all this takes time, and we are almost into the 2nd week of November.
