Might be that the scores are inaccurate?

Intel screen. Since two days ago the designation has changed from "Minor Victory" to "Major Victory", but the VP ratio is still below 2 to 1. Is this normal or is it a bug?

I think major victory designation is something like 1.5 to 1. You dont need 2-1 to get it.

O, that is interesting.. In that case the ratio for a major victory might be 1.75?

Exactly, the victory levels (Manual section 17.1) are independent of the auto victory conditions (17.2) and everything better than 1.75 is a major (in game, the manual actually says decisive) victory. Some modifiers can apply (17.1.1 and 17.1.2).

Congratulations, War Dog!

I fully realize how much effort you have had to invest in the war to receive a "Major Victory" at this point in the war.

Well done.

Best Regards,

Yes well, it's still just something written on the intel screen. When there's no red dots left on the whole map, then you have won.

Right? Right?

Very nice progress in China, I guess though that Hangchow and Shangai have high forts levels and strong garrisons.

Nice bombardments by those battleships by the way. I am a bit surprised they went so smoothly, I would have expected those ports to be very heavily mined, considering how they are in naval bombardment range. Did you ever consider landing there, in northern Honshu? Just asking, I know you are planning to land on shikoku....

Thanks guys. I didn't realize it was broken down that way.

Yes, yes - eliminate all red dots!

Hachinohe and Akita are on the target list. Check a few days back for the list.

Whoops.

Ah well. I'm still waiting for you to march on Tokyo. If you do, I'lll forgive you for leaving some red dots around

You likely have all your unit prepping already for other targets, but ..... did you know that the base just east of Nagasaki (Kurume) has port access from both the NW and SW hex sides? Try routing one of your subs that is west of Tsushima to Kurume and you will see that it can go in the NW side. (don't forget to cancel that move!). Makes for an interesting worm-hole. Too bad it doesn't come out in the Sea of Japan!

DD Shimozuki, Fuyuzuki, and Nagatsuki are in the same hex with the British CVE/CVL TF, but our flattops are not spotted. Apparently the destroyers were chasing Valiant! The weather in the carriers' hex is awful, which explains why no naval strikes flew either from the carriers or into the hex from Formosa.

All went well enough on the ground in China.

With the crossings into Nanking and the securing of Wusih, Nanking is now bottled up with the one proviso that a coordinated breakout could still be staged through Wusih. To prevent that one armored unit will speed from Nanking, around the hex side that Japan still owns, and into Wusih. Once there the unit will move into Soochow to capture that hex side, while the division remains in Wusih to block the large enemy force still in Nanking. Several divisions from north of Hangchow will appear west of Soochow tomorrow also. Artillery units have arrived at Nanking.

Continued reduction in the Philippines.

And another tomorrow. Hakodate shipyard is fully repaired to 18,000 tons and is well utilized.

Speaking of tomorrow, the weather forecast over the Home Islands is 'only' Overcast. Sweeps are ordered against Matsuyama (few fighters there but >150 a hex away), and the B-29 groups will strike at the 120x Nakajima Ha-45 engine factories.

2EB on Hokkaido will strike the Oil production at Akita, already 15(18), and Light Industry there, 21(0).

I have a bunch of USMC units ready to upgrade to a new TOE but they aren't doing so, even in Rest mode with a Command HQ as close as in the same hex. Any ideas?

China west.

Are there any enemy units nearby? Is the base big enough to get daily supply?

Are there any enemy units nearby? Is the base big enough to get daily supply?

No enemy. One base, with a command HQ in Combat mode, has >200,000 supply. Other examples have less supply though still lots and with a Command HQ within range. All affected units in Rest mode of course.

Haven't had this problem in this game until now. Maybe I'll try toggling the device upgrade button to see if that is now required.

I was just about to write that. Your guess is correct: the upgrade device button is now necessary (this was changed in one of the betas to allow players to put units that they didn't want to TOE upgrade in rest mode).

change unit TOE so as not to upgrade if unit upgrade is OFF; more control - normal conditions still apply if upgrade is ON

We are also closing in on Wakkanai, the last Imperial base on Hokkaido.

The sweeps today went well but the net was low, and strategic strikes scored well with small losses. Of those targeted, most of the Nakajima Ha-45 engine factories were knocked out, all the Oil production, and some of the Light Industry. Perhaps continued recon will show even greater damage.

Matsuyama.

77th/B Division Wiped Out at Sapporo by attrition!!!
Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Sapporo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only one division needs rest tomorrow at Sapporo. In the narrows west of Hakodate our destroyers put down two SSX and fought off an air raid.

The recent strategic bombing targets are showing small increases in damage. Tomorrow the 2EB fly against Light Industry near Hokkaido. 1EB will strike Light Industry at Toyohara. The B-29 groups on Formosa will hit Heavy Industry and Light Industry at Shanghai. We want the besieged Imperials to be without bullet factories.

A whole mess of units upgraded to their new TOEs this turn, in accordance with toggling the upgrade switch in addition to the prior requirements. A nice little surprise is that the Soviet Command HQ at Vladivostok covered Hokkaido.

Rather than waiting for other bases to be developed, I've moved 7 full squadrons (15x planes each) of B-29-25 to Sapporo, with two 24x plane Corsair squadrons on close CAP (range 0). By the time stragglers catch up there will also be adequate air support on site (currently short). Sapporo airfield is size 7, but dedicated engineer units will be landing on Hokkaido over the next couple of days and will rail straight to Sapporo.

China west.
